Hello everyone,
I recently got accepted to Bloomfield College pre-nursing program. I plan to take my outstanding pre-reqs (2 to be exact) during the summer I session and then sit for the NLN in June/July. Has anyone been through this process? If so I will appreciate any advise...I would also like to know about the program itself, professors and that sort of stuff!!!
Thanks...
Tyler...the reason I stressed that is because I wanted to transfer into the nursing program at my former university and they stressed that my GPA needed to be in the 3.7-4.0 range and that most students have around 3.8. Whether this is true or not--I do not know. I went away thinking that my gpa is just about average although I think it is pretty good for someone with junior status and a lot of upper level science and other courses...on top of that I needed to take a year extra of pre-reqs for nursing which are not needed for virtually all other nursing programs I researched just to prove that I was "competitive enough"--I am extremely happy with my choice to attend BC...small and cozy college, nice city and close to home and work...I was accepted by the way...Class of 2013!!!

my gpa was lower than yours and i got in with no problem. im now entering my junior year, the program is tough but it's doable. good luck and see you in september!
Hi,
I just recieved my call about getting accepted into the nursing program!!! I also got all my preferences...my Gpa was a 2.8 and my NLN score was a 77. The nursing advisor told me it was impossible not to get in with a 2.5 and a NLN score of 64 so you should be fine if your above this range. I'm sooooo excited I got in the last 2 years of my life have been hell trying to get accepted into nursing school because I had ruined my GPA soooo bad when I was younger. I'm just glad Bloomfield has given me a chance...
Hey Soyala
From what I have heard it is a pretty demanding program...all nursing programs are, obviously, because you are dealing with people's lives...don't worry about messing up.Just follow instructions especially in your clinical I guess. Do your research/reading before class and clinical. Oh and buy your books early so that you can begin reading and familiarizing yourself with what to expect...I am so excited but like you, I am nervous as well. You will be fine...don't worry. But I understand your position.
i just wanted to say i was able to get into the nursing program for this fall too!!even though i am really excited finally start, i am beyond nervous.
i don't want to mess up and not pass a course. does anyone how many nursing students tend to drop out of the program?
im entering my junior year at bc. many people dont drop out of the program but there are some that dont pass both classes in fall semester. this past fall my class had around 70 students and spring there was around 50, and the numbers drop each semester. you cant let that worry you because it happens with all nursing schools.

you guys wont have clinical this semester, so dont worry about patients. i wouldnt recommend reading the books prior to the start of the semester unless you have the syllabus because the professors dont go in order. dont worry it is alot of work but the professors are really good!!
Yea I figured they wouldn't go in order...but I have no prior knowledge of anything to do with nursing and I just needed a general idea of what to expect.I hear a lot of prof. try to fail people and that sort of thing for simple reasons...is that true? Are they willing to help everyone...I hope so!!! I stopped reading...just wanna enjoy the rest of my summer...

no thats not true, like i said earlier, make sure you average a 74 on all your test because that is what will initially determine if you will pass the class. profs are willing to help where they can. i had no prior knowledge of anything nursing and i didnt read anything before the classes started. the professors dont expect you to know "nursing" things before hand so dont stress yourself.
