Block 1 - Exam 1 ((Help!))

Specializes in Student at deciphering the acronyms..

Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday! Our very FIRST Exam of NS! ... and MAN do I need the points!!! :uhoh3:

50 questions total - 1/2 Theory, 1/2 Pharm (w/ a little ratio math thrown in) plus a sprinkle of lab procedure questions.

I'm taking a NUR104 study class that has helped in understand NCLEX type questions, but the instructors did mention that there will be material covered that was not spoken of in class... I obviously need to review the reading material thus far, but I have a bunch of catch up reading to do too! Plus I need to keep up with my current reading assignments! YIKES!

I don't currently have an NCLEX review book, but I plan on ordering one today from Amazon.

Is there any advice you guys can offer to a newbie student like me - about to take their very first nursing school exam. I've got ants in my pants and butterflys in my stomach and you guys are my exterminators! :p

Much love and luck to everyone in advance! Can't wait to hear what you guys come up with!

First- Try as hard as you can in the future to stay up with the reading so your not focusing on playing catch up while your time would be better spent reviewing for your exam. For example, it may be in your best interest in the future to make a reading plan schedule so you can do map out the reading that needs to be done. This will allow you to complete it in a timely matter. I literally write down a calendar and say "read pp1280-1300 on Wednesday".

Second- Know what you don't know. Too often we spend so much time reviewing EVERYTHING. If you know something, move on do not waste time studying something you already understand and feel comfortable with.

Third- Have confidence in yourself. Walk in with your head up. Feel like you studied all you could--that you truly did your best to prepare & believe that you will do well.

Fourth- Understand that this is your first nursing exam. It is extremely difficult to judge what types of questions will be on the exam so cut yourself some slack. Allow yourself a little bit of room for error. Of course we all hope that you will do wonderfully and get an A, but if you don't..take time to absorb the types of questions that are asked so you can be better prepared for next time.

Lastly- Treat yourself after. Take a bath. Watch a movie. Go for a walk. Do something for you. Don't forget about your health and your sanity.*wine

 Sending hugs your way.

All the luck in the world to you. :anpom:
