Biomedical Statistics National University

U.S.A. California

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if anybody has taken or planning to take the Biomedical Statistics course at National University (NSG 322)?

I am planning to take the class online, but am a little nervous on how easy/hard it will be to do via computer. I'm fine when it comes to taking classes that are straightforward conceptual where you pretty much just read and memorize.

Any advice will be helpful :o)

Thanks!

I am going to be taking it online too. When are you taking it? I start June 1. I am nervous about it because math isn't one of my strengths. My adviser said that they offer math tutoring for free but I am hoping I can get away with not needing that. Any info anyone can give us would be great! :)

Hello,

Well, I am enrolled in the July course, but am debating whether to take it this May to make the May application deadline period. Math isn't my strongest subject either :o( that's why I am scared to take it online.

I emailed a professor to find out more what the course is about, so I'll let you know what I find out.

Are you here in San Diego, if you don't mind me asking? Is there tutoring at every campus? When do you plan on applying for the nursing program?

I am applying for the Accelerated program here in San Diego and Biomed Stats will be my last prereq.

Good luck! Keep me posted!

Hi!

Yes I am in San Diego. I am just starting my pre-reqs so it will take me until Feb 2011 to get them done. I am going to apply in March for the Oct start date.

I am not sure if there are tutors at each campus, I will email my adviser and ask him and let you know.

If you take it in May will you be doubling up on classes? I was originally thinking of doing that so that I could apply in Dec but I don't think it will work with my work and class schedule since it would be when I start my science classes.

Let me know if you end up doing the July class and maybe we can study together. :)

Good luck! :)

here is what my admissions counselor said about the math tutors: there are only two math tutors, but they do travel to different campuses.

Hello!

Thanks for sharing the info. That's not too encouraging to know that there are only 2 tutors. Well, a professor emailed me back and said, "The forumulae are introduced to the students, but the actual work is more computer and analyzing data."

That doesn't sound too bad :o) Maybe, the class isn't hard to take online. I think I may take it in July. There is an application deadline in August for the April 2011 cohort.

What science classes are you taking?

Good luck!

Hi!

That doesn't sound too bad. More analyzing vs. problem solving. It will probably be tedious but hopefully manageable!

If you decide to take it in May let me know how it goes or if you end up waiting until July I will let you know how it is. :)

I have to take ALL the science classes so I start with A&P I in July and I will be doing science classes through Dec. After I finish those I will do Psych and Sociology. Did you take your sciences through NU?

Thanks for the info!

i'm taking it May 3rd online at the Los Angeles NU. Pretty nervous about the class itself, it sounds pretty intimidating.

I started the bio-medical statistics class this week. So far it looks like we're mostly doing research for statistical data then putting it into a database so that it can be put into a useful format. It looks like we'll be learning some basic mathematical terms like average, mean, mode etc and some formulas. It seems more research based rather than math based though. I will let you know how it goes! Wish me luck!!

i just finished the biomed class. I was so happy to received an A in the class. The class is pretty hard but its do-able. good luck to you.

Congrats on the A! :yeah:Thanks for the info, I'm hoping to get an A also. Hopefully I can do it!

Any feedback of Biomed Stats.....how was it? Any tips?

Thanks!
