Hello!
I had some questions and I thought this website would be the best to post this on so any input would be greatly appreciated. I am currently a biology major, completing my freshman year, going up to my sophomore year. I went into biology in hopes of going to medical school, but I have realized that my true passion was in nursing. I have been thinking about this a lot, but during this summer, I wanted to officially switch my studies to the field of nursing. Now, I know that students cannot switch to nursing off the bat, so I was wondering if I start taking the nursing pre-reqs as a bio major and go from there as I complete the pre-reqs. I had also contacted my counselor but I'm not sure how long it would be to receive a reply so in hopes of swift replies here, I am looking forward to hearing from you guys! Thank you ?

I'm having difficulty interpreting the question, but I think the school would have their own policies how students, or their credits are transferred to other programs.
I know in many cases, in order to get into the nursing program, certain criteria and must have requirements need to be met for all and any prospective students regardless of any other courses or majors taken in the past. That is to say, it's not a simple matter of being "switched" into the nursing program, from another program in the lateral sense.
For example, nursing has its own entrance exam that's independent of any other school entrance exams. You're not necessarily exempted from writing this entrance exam requirement, just because you are already enrolled in another program of study at the same school.
Am I answering your question?

Have you made an appointment to speak with an academic advisor? When I made the same change way back in the dark ages, I met with one of the nursing academic advisors who was able to guide me with the specifics to the school I was attending.

I think in general you have the right idea, but should schedule and attend an official advising session ASAP.

As others have said, go see the nursing academic advisor, they can point you in the right direction, tell you if you are on the right path a longer path or anything in between.
