BIO 235

Published

Hey all you pre-nursing students!

I want to apply to an accelerated nursing program after I graduate from my current institution, and to apply, it's required I take BIO 235 with Athabasca University. Is anyone else taking this course or has anyone else ever taken it? There is so little communication between students and tutors that it would be nice to share notes and ideas with someone, and help each other get through the course! Message me if you're taking the course and basically want a study buddy :). Also, if you have taken the course do you have any advice/ tips/resources/notes you would care to send my way? I'm super nervous about it, it's taking me very long to get through everything and being a full-time student doesn't leave and a whole lot of extra time to make notes for endless hours. Hope to hear from you all soon!

Study hard!

Course numbers and sections can vary from school to school but the overall class itself and the content associated with it is the same. You may want to clarify what BIO 235 is. :)

I replied to you on another post, but I'll post it here again

I completed the BIO 235 program this summer. It is a very content-heavy course and my suggestion would be to adhere strictly to the Study Guide, as the midterms and finals do not go beyond the required material. This is especially important for the second half of the course where the memorization ramps up.

For the midterms and finals, know the diagrams in the textbook very well. Often times you'll see the exact same diagram on the exam. Some of the questions on the quiz ask for specific details (details I often glance over when studying), so be familiar with where things are in the textbook. They designed the quizzes to be "open book" so some questions require a bit of digging around.

I agree that the communication is lacking in this course. They basically said "read this book, take these tests. That'll be $1500." However, do try hard for the assignments, as the person who marked mine expected extensive detail. For the first assignment I wrote a paragraph for each short answer question, which landed me a grade in the mid-80s. For the second assignment I decided to go all out and include as much detail as I could... a couple of my answers were in fact 500+ word essays. That landed me a score in the mid-90s.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions. Best of luck!

I'm also taking Biology 235 right now. I started mid-January, and I just finished reading Chapter 10. I submitted the first assignment and just wrote the first quiz. @NBolas, did you find that the quizzes were more difficult than the midterms? I found that they asked for very small details that weren't even included in the study guide. This is making me very worried for my upcoming midterm.

Thanks!

In the study guide, I noticed that it says "Explain the anatomic and physiologic significance of the knee joint." I'm trying to determine that when they say explain, do they also mean identify key terms in the diagrams also?
