  1. @futurenurse612 Has anyone done a placement with a non afilliated partner such as a different region's health unit in one of their semesters or is it purely TPH, sick kids, and UHN?
  2. I have a friend who is a preceptor at Sick Kids, she said they prefer Nipissing students. I have another friend from the first cohort of the SPP who got a job where she did her placement. I think in terms of jobs the SPP is the way to go in my opinion. Of course in terms of learning style, I think if you learn best outside of typical classroom settings this would likely be a good fit. For myself, I prefer learning in the field and doing my own research so I think SPP is the best fit for my learning style.
  3. Hi! Thank you so much for answering my questions. I really appreciate the honesty and all the helpful tips. :) I'll definitely be looking into those shoes and the scrubs in addition to the resources you've listed. Those videos sound like a wealth of practical information!
  4. Same here! Congrats everyone! Can't wait to meet you all. :)
  5. That's awesome! Thanks for all this info. In terms of additional school work such as preparing for the 3 hour reflections, and the inquiry courses, how much time would you say is spent in addition to your placements?
  6. What made it seem competitive? Did you know how many people were interviewed or applied?
  7. Same here! Nice to meet you too. Haha I've been checking that web advisor everyday.
  8. Hi! Thanks for all this info, it clarified a few things for me. :)
  9. I would also be in Vaughan. Not living there yet though. :) Thank goodness for the new subway extension!
  10. Hi I was wondering.. how much time do students usually spend downtown? I'll be living in the GTA if I get into the program so I'm trying to get a sense of whether or not students would be there until like 5 or 6pm. Basically trying to figure out whether I should have my gym be closer to where I live or closer to the campus.
  11. Hi I'm Lee! SPP is also my first choice. I'm currently working in sexual health. :) Been checking emails every day haha...
  12. Still waiting to hear back about interviews too. I'm wondering if they're waiting for CASPer results first. I'm writing mine on the 22nd too.
  13. Did you study for the CASPer? I'm curious because most people say you don't, but when I look on google, there are places that prepare you for CASPer and courses too.
  14. In the study guide, I noticed that it says "Explain the anatomic and physiologic significance of the knee joint." I'm trying to determine that when they say explain, do they also mean identify key terms in the diagrams also?
  15. Hi! I just started BIOL 235 at Athabasca and I'm wondering how in depth the tests and quizzes actually are. Would you say that you had to know every little detail? Or was it more focused on general topics? I totally agree with what you said about the amount of content you'd have to get through if you only have 3 to 4 months. I think the study guide they have is realistic though to finish it in 44 weeks. Even doing 2 chapters in a week if you've got a full time job is A LOT in my opinion.
