Hello,
I was recently accepted in to the BAT program at Binghamton University. I was wondering if anyone else had heard/if any alums of the program could shed some light on the pros/cons of it. I also have an offer from niagara university and would like a reason, other than tuition costs, to help with the decision. Hope someone picks up on the thread! Look forward to hearing from you!
Hi! It's been a while since the last time I posted on here (maybe 9 years ago). I graduated the BAT program in 2007 although I started the program in May 2005. It was a very intensive 12 year program and I found it really to difficult to keep up with the program so I ended up extending it to 2 years. The sequence of courses during that time was different and we felt like we're guinea pigs to see how we would do in the program. It was a frustrating experience for me and for some of my classmates to deal with the disorganization (not to mention some faculty who seemed like they did not want to teach). Lectures were mostly in power point and a lot of the lectures had problems with misspellings and formatting from faculty who obviously did not know how to use the software. I decided to extend my program when I got to the point of extreme frustration and worse, depression. I go to the point that I started to lose my self-confidence and mostly ended up as a student who would get the lowest grades (one teacher talked to me and asked me to drop out from the program..but I wasn't ready to quit). With the support of some teachers who believed in me (I did well in my clinicals versus lecture), I graduated and got my degree. Although I was not too happy with my overall GPA, I received by BSN degree. The bad experience did not haunt me when I started my nursing career. I honestly did not learn and understand the science of nursing until I became a full pledged RN. I've been a nurse for 9 years now - just became CCRN recently. My advice is to just go with the flow and when you feel like you're drowning with too much information - speak to your student adviser.
cwizzy I am currently in the BAT program, graduating May. It really depends on who you speak to in the program. I found the program to be very doable and a great opportunity to become a RN in just 12 months. The faculty is amazing and really willing to help (they give their personal contact information) and are available to you all the time. Some say that you will not have a life at all for the year. It really is all about managing your time properly. If you do the work in a timely fashion you will have time for other things. I was able to do the program and maintain a social and drive down to NYC to see my family every now and then. I personally found the hardest part of the program to be during the summer. Expect to work your butt off in both summer sessions. You will have a week off in between the sessions. If you have any other questions let me know. Good luck!
Hey everyone!
I have been waitlisted for the Binghamton University BAT nursing program for the 2017-2018 year. I'm wondering when you all had received your acceptance to the program and when is the latest date to receive an acceptance to the program? I was just wondering this because it is already April 18th and I have not herd back from Binghamton whether I have been accepted or not and the program starts in about a month. This wait is currently killing me
@vegaa7500 there is no cut off date to be accepted from the waitlist. There are people in my cohort that got accepted a week before the program started. If I were you I would shoot an email to the school expressing your interest in the program again. A little reminder never hurts. Dont be discouraged. It isnt over until the first day of class. Wishing you luck!

I am on the same boat. I was told there is a FB group that has been created and I would receive an invite soon. Just continue to check your email.
