Binghamton University BAT Program-2016-2017

Published

Hello,

I was recently accepted in to the BAT program at Binghamton University. I was wondering if anyone else had heard/if any alums of the program could shed some light on the pros/cons of it. I also have an offer from niagara university and would like a reason, other than tuition costs, to help with the decision. Hope someone picks up on the thread! Look forward to hearing from you!

Congrats, I didn't know they started sending out acceptances already. I'm still waiting to hear back.

Congrats! I'm not an alumnus of the program, but I'm hoping to enroll for the 2017-2018 school year. I hope you get some more responses to this, but while you're waiting, there are a number of other threads on here about the program if you search for "Binghamton University BAT."

Here is one I found these particularly helpful:

Congrats! I applied as well, I am anxiously waiting a decision. I was also accepted to St. Joes and Lemoyne College's accelerated program but because Binghamton costs 50% less that is my first choice. I have heard good things about the University itself from nurses I currently work with. Not many are familiar with accelerated programs but when I tell them it is 12 months they are very surprised. I think it all depends on the student themselves. Nursing school in general is considered very hard let alone fast tracking it into months. A lot of the other posts about the program helped. Some can be a little discouraging but just keep in mind that it's really more about your skills as a student and motivation.

Congrats!! I'm still playing the waiting game as well. Did they send you an email or was it just a package in the mail??

Hey,

I too got accepted into their program for 2016-2017. My friend did their program last year and has been very helpful in answering my questions. She pretty much said that it's a very intense program, which all nursing programs are, but that it was very doable and the teachers were helpful (pro). She did give some advice on a few things such as, she had to quit her job and solely focus on school, so a job might be difficult to maintain while in the program (potential con). She was happy that it was only a year and said it goes by very fast and before she knew it she was graduated (pro?). She also lived nearby so with that and the tuition being reasonable she decided it was the best option financially (pro). I know I decided to go with Binghamton because it is affordable, it is close to where I live, it has a wonderful reputation, and is one of the few one year programs around so I can start my career asap! I hope this helped even a little bit and good luck with your decision!

Hi! I am still waiting to hear back from Binghamton, have any more of you heard back or have an idea of when we are supposed to get word?

The status of my application changed on January 19th letting me know that I was accepted. I just think the information given is a little wonky. It says I was accepted into the Decker School of Nursing for Fall 2016, but when I scroll down, there is another letter specifically saying that I was accepted into the BAT program, which starts at the beginning of summer so it's kind of weird. Anyway, congratulations to everyone that have been accepted and good luck to those of you who are still waiting to here back.

Did you receive a letter or email?

How and when did you hear?

Well my previous comment says when I heard. I received an email stating that my application status changed and on Binghamton's website it mentioned the whole 'congratulations' thing. A couple of days later I received information in the mail, but that info had nothing to do with the BAT program. It was just generic, 'congratulations on being accepted as a transfer student'. I believe you have to submit a deposit before they give you any detailed information about the program and I haven't done that yet.

Hi, I was recently accepted into the BAT program at Binghamton and have been looking into the pros and cons as well. I talked to one of the nurses I work with who went there six years ago and she said it was a great program, that it was intense but that you get breaks every so often between a block of weeks which she said really helped. I am currently living in Ithaca, NY but am thinking about moving into the Binghamton area to be closer to the school. Does anyone have any advice on where to look for off-campus housing near Decker or commuting from Ithaca to Binghamton?
