just keep it clean and you should be fine with only having to buy 1.

I love 1.5 inch binders! How many binders depends on how many classes you're taking. Maybe one for each class? :)
That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about binders for class that you put papers in.

I had a 1.5 inch that I took with me, separated by class, and had the running powerpoints (the ones on the current exam material) in there. It also had sections for clinicals/lab etc.
At home I kept 4 inch binders for each subject, and after an exam the powerpoints would go there, separated by test, with each one labelled based on topic/chapters.

FYI- It's pretty common to have around 500-600 pages (3 slides each w/ notes) for one exam.
