and I'm already anticipating a strong possibility of being snowed in tomorrow when I'm to work at my LTC facility 3-11.
I'm feeling very torn. I should go somewhere when I can have access to roads. However, I'll be alone tonight - my daughter's going to be gone with friends for a football party and has plans to stay over - and I can't leave my dogs alone for 24+ hours! With the 12 inches or more snow predicted (and it's starting now), I'm thinking that it's gonna be a long, hard piece of work to digout tomorrow by myself. The snow's not supposed to stop until evening tomorrow with blizzard conditions during the day.
I've called in once because of snow in the 9 1/2 years I've worked at the facility, I've always had someone at home to watch the dogs. But I think I may not be there tomorrow. It's hard when the kids grow up and leave home, then you're responsible for everything!! :chuckle
But just the thought of calling in makes me feel bad - it's always so hard when there's a storm.
Dang it!

I also live in the KC area, and it is true. They were calling for Armageddon three days ago, then it was "well, maybe a foot". Then, it was 6-8 inches. Last night, it was "4-5".
All we got so far was freezing rain. How disappointing. But, you know what they say about the Midwest... "Don't like the weather? Wait ten minutes."
I hate the winters here...they are always late season, and butt-cold. The summers are tolerable because you can go to the lake and play! I've been thinking about doing the travel nurse thing during the cold season. I always did like Florida.

KC and Florida are like night and day. I kind of miss Iowa every now and then. Maybe we could just swap jobs and housing arrangements every six months or so. I imagine everywhere seems to have good and bad points. I think everyone assumes they'll enjoy the idea of living in Florida because of the warm winters, but the humidity can make life unbearable during certain periods. It took me a great deal of time to get acclimated to the weather down here. When Floridians talk about hot, we mean Cajun hot. I live in an apartment building. Let me tell you folks it's not much fun breaking into a serious sweat just walking to the parking lot to retrieve my car. Friends it more than likely wouldn't take much arm twisting to get me to move back up north.
