Okay,

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!

I was going totally mental with anxiety, checking this board several times a day to see when people were hearing back, compared to when they had applied and what their stats were. I was also very nervous about how I had done on the TEAS, so I wanted to post my info to help other people a little. Here are my stats:

I applied to the school January 4th, 2010. I took the TEAS January 23rd, 2010.

Previous BA degree in anthropology. I graduate in August of 2009 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA.

I took A&P I last fall, at Gateway: B

Developmental Psych: A

TEAS: 81.2% (mean national was 72.8% and the mean for the program 73.3%)

My adjusted individual scores were as follows:

Reading: 82.5%

Math: 82.2%

Science: 70%

English: 85.5%

In all my nervousness, I called two days ago and was told that I would likely hear back from the in school 4-6 weeks. Then I got my letter today, February 5th. For the record, my admissions essay was based on a CNA training course I took in the fall and I also think that having a previous BA really helped, especially in seeing past that nasty 70% in the science section of the TEAS.

Good luck and I hope this information was helpful, or at least of interest, to some of you!!

Yes, the V is scored MUCH differently than the IV. I'd apply if I was you... I saw stats on here a while back that 700 people applied to BHSN, but when I called myself & asked, I was told about 500 applied the past two years. Of those 500, 250 were eligible or ended up not pulling their app b/c someone else had accepted them. Ya never know until you try! :)

oh and nursingbean, she also said they look at EVERY single aspect of your application equally: overall GPA, pre-requ/co-requ courses, TEAS, recommendations & essay.

Hi!! I hope everyone is enjoying BHSN and/or the application process (goodluck!). I completed NU101 last fall and took a year LOA to have my baby boy!!! (now 8 months old) and I will be returning to NU102 Oct 26, 2011. I am looking forward to my return but I am def nervous about it as well. I remember freaking out before during and after every exam!!! I have actually looked into outher nursing programs (BSN) and found that they are structured completely different! For those of you who are now getting a taste of NU101, you can see that a lot of material is covered and you will need to know everything for the exam! So for example, you are learning about sanitary practices, nursing theory, vital signs, nursing history, nursing associations and more...ALL of that info will be cramed togther on the FIRST exam and this will happen on each subsequent exam. BSN programs have individual courses that focus soley on nursing theory for example and the exam in that class will only pertain to that topic...much more focus and structed (for me anyway). Has anyone been in a BSN program but switched to a certificate program such as BHSN?! I feel that a BSN program, more organized and focused but longer to complete, might be a better option. BHSN overwhelms the students with so much information that is scattered and unrelated but presented as an entirety that it almost makes it impossible to retain it all and then spit it back out for the exams with the hopes of carrying it on to one's career. Thoughts?

I already have a Master's Degree (which i found easier/more realistic to obtain) and for some reason am fearful of my return. I do also have distractions such as two children and work (which I will be stopping) but I clearly recall seriously stressing out because of the abundance of info at one time.

I look forward to meeting you all!! Support is key- I made some great friends in my first six weeks there last year and am thankful for them.

Thank you studentnurseCT and Rooskenator for your advise. I just submitted my completed application to the school.. now just waiting for my high school and college to send my transcripts to Bridgeport. How long does it take to hear back from the school? and to get my teas test date? Also, does anyone know the difference between the teas V and teas IV test? Im wondering how I should go about studying. Thankss!

Hello:

I also applied and am worried about my application. I did the TEAS V and only scored 69. I did not submit the grade and requested to sit the exam again on December 3. Thin k I made a mistake because when I listen to the stats the 69 is no t so so bad.

I want o get in so bad. Does anyone know when you start getting acceptance letter?

Some people heard in two weeks. Good luck, I wanted to go to BHSN just couldn't swing the tuition.

The program utilizes rolling admissions, which means people are processed as soon as they get all your admission materials in. the longer you wait, the less spots will be left and the less the chance will be for acceptance. as 4 the teas, i would advise a score of at least 75, but then again, i dont know your other credentials. It's an awesome program...at least I think so (class of '13). Good Luck!

I am also regretting not submitting my original teas scores. Although I am not happy with a 68.7 percent I am scheduled to take them again next saturday and have had little time to study I am scared I am going to do worse then my last score. Where did you hear that the 69 score wasnt that bad? I hope you are right!

nursingbean:

First of all good look on the new teas. a lot of students at the two campus that I attend who actually took the test said they got less than 70. But lets keep our fingers crossed. Truly I wish you a good luck. I take my test on December 3

thanks Altheawelsh. The teas test date was canceled for November 12th and rescheduled to december 3rd. So now I am taking them that day (which happens to be my 21st bday)

I have been geting very nervous because I havent had time to study or prepare the last few weeks beacause of so much school work! I just want to get them over with already

Nursingbean:

how was your teas on Saturday. Did mine at Bridgeport and freaked out. The science was definitely what I had expected.

I am not sure when you will hear about your acceptance. I know BHSN is one of the few that allow you to apply this early. I wouldn't sweat too much when you turn in your application. I turned mine in last year a week before the deadline and I got my acceptance letter on March 4. Definitely take the TEAS and leave yourself enough time to take again if you don't like your grade. I don't know what the new minimum grade is now, as I know they've changed the test.

I am getting ready to finish NU102, finals are on 12/20. There is a lot of information and it's stressful, but so is every other nursing school. Good Luck to those applying soon! Maybe I'll see you next year :)
