BHSN-Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Fall 2011

Started a new thread, since the other threads on this topic look like they are from last year.

Okay,

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!

I was going totally mental with anxiety, checking this board several times a day to see when people were hearing back, compared to when they had applied and what their stats were. I was also very nervous about how I had done on the TEAS, so I wanted to post my info to help other people a little. Here are my stats:

I applied to the school January 4th, 2010. I took the TEAS January 23rd, 2010.

Previous BA degree in anthropology. I graduate in August of 2009 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA.

I took A&P I last fall, at Gateway: B

Developmental Psych: A

TEAS: 81.2% (mean national was 72.8% and the mean for the program 73.3%)

My adjusted individual scores were as follows:

Reading: 82.5%

Math: 82.2%

Science: 70%

English: 85.5%

In all my nervousness, I called two days ago and was told that I would likely hear back from the in school 4-6 weeks. Then I got my letter today, February 5th. For the record, my admissions essay was based on a CNA training course I took in the fall and I also think that having a previous BA really helped, especially in seeing past that nasty 70% in the science section of the TEAS.

Good luck and I hope this information was helpful, or at least of interest, to some of you!!

Hi bkgrosso,

I applied in late december, but it took a while to get all my transcripts to the school. I got confirmation via email that the school had everything mid January. I took the teas exam Jan. 22nd and it was exam 5! I had studied from a book that was for exam 3. I was so upset! I have a great gpa and wonderful recommendations, but the waiting is killing me!!

How about you? when did you apply?

Pinklady,

I just sent everything in last week, and had taken the TEAS prior to applying. I know its pathetic it has only been a week and I am already driving myself crazy. Did you find out your TEAS score yet? You have good stats already so that's a good thing.

thanks guys! I still can't believe it.

@pinklady - I'm definitely going. I just paid my deposit and turned in my confirmation paperwork. now its just a waiting game to find out if i got into days or nights. I'm anxious to get my schedule so i can work things out schedule wise for my other committments. I cant not work but i need to let my employer know asap.

So my stats.. I believe someone asked. I have a 3.6 and took the teas twice. First time, not so hot.... 2nd time a 79.2 . I'm not a great test taker, but i think they just want atleast the program average or better. I'm also sure it helped that i had 3 great letters of recommendation.

I sent in my application in October, but i took the teas for the 2nd time January 14, and my acceptance letter was dated 1/26

I can't wait to meet those of you that i will be on this crazy adventure with!! and best of luck to those of you who are still waiting to hear.

Don't forget you had to write an essay. Something I wish more schools did.

@refinnej83 congrats!! did you pick days or nights? is bhsn your first pick? i can't wait to get started as well. enjoy celebrating your acceptance!

Hey refinnie-Do you have to take any pre-reqs for BHSN? Are you taking any classes at Housatonic Community College? Congrats, btw!

Does anyone know how many applicants there are this year for BHSN?

someone had said earlier that there was about 1,200 applicants this year. I'm not sure if BHSN confirmed that information though

Hey Wannabe... how did you find out how many applicants there were? I was at an information session in December and they said they usually get 600.

Just got my letter of acceptance!!!! I'm so excited!!
