Okay,
I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!
I was going totally mental with anxiety, checking this board several times a day to see when people were hearing back, compared to when they had applied and what their stats were. I was also very nervous about how I had done on the TEAS, so I wanted to post my info to help other people a little. Here are my stats:
I applied to the school January 4th, 2010. I took the TEAS January 23rd, 2010.
Previous BA degree in anthropology. I graduate in August of 2009 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA.
I took A&P I last fall, at Gateway: B
Developmental Psych: A
TEAS: 81.2% (mean national was 72.8% and the mean for the program 73.3%)
My adjusted individual scores were as follows:
Reading: 82.5%
Math: 82.2%
Science: 70%
English: 85.5%
In all my nervousness, I called two days ago and was told that I would likely hear back from the in school 4-6 weeks. Then I got my letter today, February 5th. For the record, my admissions essay was based on a CNA training course I took in the fall and I also think that having a previous BA really helped, especially in seeing past that nasty 70% in the science section of the TEAS.
Good luck and I hope this information was helpful, or at least of interest, to some of you!!
they are sending me an registration package and then i have to go and sign up for the orientation. i am already celebrating!! haha.. i am just sooo excited!!
i also never took communications and she recemended that i try to take it over the summer. on the bhsn website it says that the class is effective speaking and that it is C201. i cant even find a class named that for the summer or the fall. i was wondering if any one has taken it and is it really just the intro to comm(C100) that is needed? or is it intro to mass comm (C101)?
Hi everyone, I have a few things to ask: (ANSWERS FOR ANY/ALL Q's WELCOME!)
a. is anyone going to orientation on June 30th 2:30pm? I changed my date from the 24th because of class.
b. I know someone who is still on the waiting list. does anyone know how long BHSN will make a person wait to get accepted/declined? It's June! I would think they would say SOMETHING by now.
Hi jtezzo, I haven't heard of anyone having a June 30th orientation date apart from you. That must be the makeup date for those who can't make it on the 24th.
If you've read through the past few postings, you'll see that one person on the waiting list received a call the other week letting her know that her file would be reviewed again and that they would be making a final decision on her acceptance within a few days. So it sounds like they are actively working on the waiting list, and making definitive answers whether good or bad. People can still decide to give up their seats up until the first day of class, for any number of reasons. So unfortunately, there is always the chance that your friend may get a call a few months from now. However, I would venture to guess that they should have a good idea of what their final list will be by orientation.
Hope this helps some. By the way, congrats on your acceptance! I'll see you in the Fall! :)
i was on the waiting list and i just heard back last week. they called me and said they were reviewing my application and then called the next day telling me i was accepted. so hopefully they heard something soon.
they called me back today about the communications class if anyone was wondering.. at the CC its COM173 public speaking. she said that the intro to communications is not acceptable. it isnt a pre req but its a co req so if anyone was planning on trying for the accelarted program they would need to do it in the summer or fall.
also my orientation is june 29 at 1pm!!! im still soooo excited!!
Congrats all on making it. Everything will be alot clearer when you hit orientation. Unfortunately Ive got class the 24th and 30th but I'll be assisting with the orientations Tuesday the 29th from 12.30-5.00. You'll basically be hooking up with 4 students no matter what time your orientation is and get your uniforms, tours, etc. Be prepared to spend about 700 on the books. There good and help clarify information in class if you need that, but yeah ive barely touched them.
So I found out that I was given credit for public speaking after all. Thank goodness! One less thing to worry about.
Thor - it's too bad we won't run into you on the 24th. You must be busy, however, this summer with the accelerated schedule. I know I am super busy with my 5 week microbiology course. I don't know what I was thinking in taking this class accelerated. All I keep thinking about is that it is almost over, just 3 more weeks! Well, good luck with your summer courses… perhaps we'll run into each other in the Fall.

Th0r: Thanks for all your info that you have posted before. It has been very helpful. Are estimates on the book package somewhere between $600-1200? You mentioned that you don't utilize most of those books and I wonder if they are worth buying.
Did they assign reading over the summer before you started in the fall? Did you apply for the accelerated class? Do you remember how much they were charging for the uniforms? Thanks again for the info, I know everyone here really appreciates it!
