Just trying to get feedback on Beville States Nursing program. I am currently looking for another school and want to find out how students rate their experience at this school.

Thanks

I graduated from Bevill and I would change a thing. There will always be someone failing and be bitter about it. I say when you get knocked off your horse, climb back on and try again. If you can't take the stress from nursing school, you don't need to be a nurse anyway. School is just a small step before you are in the big wide scary "real world" of nursing. I say bevill need to come down harder on there students because NCLEX is no easy thing.

I graduated in 07 from Bevill State. I am now a LVN instructor. I love that Bevill pushes you and makes you use your brain. It is hard but it is fair. There are some great instructors there. I cannot speak for the new instructors.

I still believe it is a great school.

I am new to this site, so Hello all. Ok have decided to return to college and pursue Nursing. I originally went to Bevill when it was Walker College. I actually graduated from Walker in 86 with an AS. Didnt have a steller mindset back then and some of my grads weren't the best. So I have been accepted back into Bevill in Sumiton, pre-nursing. All of this is so different than back in the 1980s that its like a new world, literally.

I can't wait to begin again. In my original degree I didnt have Human A&P's so I need both of them. I am signing up for Human A&P I for Spring/2011. Will get the courses sorted out when the schedule ever comes out.

I must admit reading some of these post about Bevill make me a touch nervous.

Question: What is this TEAS I keep reading about? Any help with some of these questions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

This is my first semester @ Beville in Sumiton and I must say it is very tough. However, I am still working Full-Time. If I were not workng I don't believe it would be as tough but I have no choice. I have a family and have to work. I have heard several different things about several different schools in regards to the Nursing Program in general. Sumiton does have some issues but what school doesn't? There is always going to be at least one person who has issues with the teachers/teaching. Believe me we DO have them. But what I had to do is get up and put on my BIG GIRL BIKINI'S and get a grip. It is a LOT of hard work but this I what I WANT TO DO. There have been many nights where I have not gone to bed until 3 in he morning studying for a test. In the beginning I thought I could do it on my own but the joke was on ME! I went and sat down and talked to my teachers and asked them how to study. The first thing is forgetting everything that you know or thought you knew about nursing, taking care of people, etc. You have to READ. If you don't read you will miss a LOT!!! Found that out too. I am maintaining and it is rough but I will make it. I have GOD on my side. We started out wth 73 and I believe we are now down to about 63. You have to be strong and have lots of WILL POWER. So Good Luck and Pray hard to all contemplating Nursing school whereever you go. I would not have made it tis far without God!

Welcome! The TEAS V is a basic competency test given to get into the nursing program. Think ACT test, it's similar. Divided into subjects and tested one at a time. Each section is timed. Do an internet search and you can find some study helps to refresh it all. I was scared to death but it wasn't a big deal.

My niece graduated from the program in Sumiton and did really well. I'm enjoying the Fayette campus. If you work hard you'll do fine. It isn't easy but then it shouldn't be. After all someone's life will be in your hands one day. Good Luck!!!

Hey everyone??? How do you know when you will take the TEAS V test???

Call and ask, they are very friendly. I got a letter in the mail after I had submitted my application for the nursing program with the details on how to register for the test.

So how long did it take you to get your letter??/

Deadline for applications was April 1st and I got the the letter to take the Teas around the end of April, the test was middle (maybe end) of May and acceptance letters came out at the end of June. We were the first group to have to take it so they may be doing it a little different.

bevill state was deemed "deficient" by the alabama state board of nursing.

why is that important.. well that board says if you can become a nurse and if the program you are attending keeps falling in nclex pass scores, they aren't going to be in business..

bevill has been dropping lower and lower on their pass rates .

not good. i'd pass on bevill.
