My steps are being ordered....
I would say yes. The reason being is because everyday they are changing the policies in what they (hospitals) want. I am in the State of Al and most hospitals want a nurse that has a BSN. You just have to now ask are you planning on being where you are for a very long time.

My steps are being ordered....
Caliotter3...I did set a timetable but my timetable wasn't God's timetable. MY plans are not HIS plans and MY TIME is not HIS time. I am praying to him to show me the way. I jumped my happy go lucky self off into something I had no idea I wasn't ready for. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to be an RN. But I know it wasn't my time. If someone has gone into the RN program and made it then I look at it as it being their time. What God has for ME is for ME. he didn't think I was quite seasonsed yet so he slowed me down. And I am really OK with it. Like my title says....MY STEPS ARE ORDERED...and when God orders someone's steps you can never go wrong....

My steps are being ordered....
I was in the RN program before failing one of my classes by 2 points(73, need a 75) and was asked if I would like to go into the LPN program. I was very reluctant but I said YES. I am proud to say that I am now an LPN. I was speaking to one of my fellow classmates and she asked me if I was going to try to get my 500 hours so that I can return to the RN program. I said no. I am going to work for a year and then reapply in for the Spring. Mind you I have to have 500 hours by May and this is March. Today I went on an interview at a LTC facility and was asked about pursuing my RN license and I explained to her I am in no rush. I have learned in Nursing school to let God direct my path and he has not given me any words of visions of going back into the program right now. To me the LPN program was more difficult than the RN program and I just want to take my time and get all that God has for me. The pay for an LPN is good (I wasn't really concerned about the pay). Honestly, it bothers me to hear other people say , "Oh I'm going to be a Nurse just so I can make a lot of money". UUgghh I went into Nursing to help people who can't help themselves or need help getting better. I know I will run into some fiesty people but I honestly feel this is what God wanted me to do. :redbeathe:nurse::heartbeat Does anyone else feel this way????

PAST MY LPN-NCLEX
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

I'm a real nurse!!! Thank you!
I just graduated from Nursing school in Dec. I was and still am excited about helping the sick and the well for that matter. So I pose this question to the ones that toot up their noses at us. If you or your loved one stopped breathing would it matter if I was an LPN or an RN? God has a plan for each and eveyone one of us and it is with him that we take each step So whether you plan on going higher or not lets be the best "NURSES" we can be.

Finally...A sigh of RELIEF!!!!
I've been going to school for almost 3 years straight. I completed my A&P I and II, MTH 100 and Micro all by the summer of 2010(went to school part-time). I went into the RN program in the Fall of 2010 and have been going non stop. Well in the summer of 2011 in my 3rd semester of school I'm sad to say that I did not pass. I needed to make a 78 on my final and only made a 73. But the sad thing about it is I wasn't mortified but just TIRED. I cried one day and went on vacation the next. Well needless to say my advisor asked me if I wanted to go into the LPN program and I told her that would be fine. The whole while I was saying that I didnt want to be an "LPN" I want to be an "RN". Well GOD wanted me to do differently. I just took my path as saying "God didn't think I was seasoned enough just yet".:) Well, I am happy to say that I went into the LPN program and I graduated this month. Please believe that this program was not easy but the information was presented a little differently and I learned more and knew more than I actually thought. On Monday I will be submitting my application to take the NCLEX. I too have heard that the LPN jobs in AL are far, few and in between but I have seen them out there. PLENTY OF THEM!!!! In the next couple of weeks, I will be taking the NCLEX and going to work those hours to get back into the RN prrogram if God says it's my time.... Congrats to all that have gotten into Nursing programs (whether it be CNA/RN/LPN) and congrats to all that have made it!!!!

bevill state cc rn fall 2011
When I applied I didn't see anything about a point system. I know Jeff State and Lawson State does the point system. I have looked in my nursing packet and there is nothing there about it. Sorry i couldn't be of more help. But I'll try to answer anymore questions that you may have. You can also call the Nursing Dept tomorrow for better answers.

"Good for nothing student"
I absolutely LOVED THIS...I am in my 2nd semester of Nursing school. I pray everyday that GOD keeps me humble and blesses me to give wonderful care to patients. EVERYONE knows that being a NURSE is NOT EASY!!! During my 1st set of clinicals last semester I had an elderly patient that made me discover some things about myself. She also made me look at her as if she were a relative. That SO-CALLED NURSE needs to remember that she too will need someone to attend to her/help her and you may be the one who has to. But you be NICE and do your part and GOD will BLESS YOU!!! Good luck with school!!!:yelclap::clpty:

bevill state cc rn fall 2011
To my understanding Bevill looks at your the pre required courses you have left to complete(they all don't have to be completed but its best if they are), your GPA, and the TEAS score. Good Luck to You!!!

working while doing full time nursing classes
I have to say that I am the mother of 4. One in college and a 13,12, and 11 year old. I also work FT and attend school FT. I work at home for an ins co so I am able to split my days. however, I am still required to give them 40 hours per week. I too questioned myself if I would be able to do Nursing school. Oh did I mention that my husband is constantly in and out of the hospital? With all of tthat being said I looked to GOD to help me through. Yes, I have a good support system(when hubby is wello he takes the kids where they need to go) but everyone understands what I am trying to do not just for me but for US. If I could get away with not working I would but unfortunately I can't. I had to ask myself seriously,"If I didn't have to work how much time would I spend studying?" Not sure and I don't think I want to find out. Nursing school does make you pull from within some things you never thought you had or could even imagine. But the reward at the end of the semester seeing those passing grades is enough to get you going and wanting to finish. Again look to whomever you pray to for strength within and if you have to work then work. SOme will understand and some will not. It all boils down to YOU knowing what you have to do to survive!!!! Best of Luck in all you do...Have a Happy New Year!!!*wine

Drug testing to get into the nursing program
I stopped taking it before Nursing school. With you being on those types of med you cannot just stop taking them. I agree with MOM-TO-BE that you should check with your school because they are different. I too had to get medical clearance but we had to disclose the RX info the day of the drug test. Also, our drug test was given 3 weeks into the semester not before or the day of with no prior notification.

Just Got Accepted.....Any Advice?
I would suggest read ahead and have a medical dictionary close by(PLEASE look up any words that you don't know!!!). Have yourself some highlighters, notetabs, and lots of index cards...READ!!! Be sure to have some excedrin migraine meds in your purse/bookbag(if you can take them). Explain to your friends/family that you have to STUDY!!! Not trying to scare you or sound negative but nursing exams are not like any other exams you will take.(I've had fun along my way to 2nd semester). Stay positive and you will be fine...Oh yeah and READ!!!!!!

Drug testing to get into the nursing program
I am in ALA so I am sure that some things are different than other places. Before I started Nursing school(about to enter my 2nd semester) I was taking a prescribed medication that was still not allowed. I would suggest that you call the school and verify if it is ok for you to take those meds(my school told me no even with a RX)( I was taking Adepex). When it is time for you to submit for a drug test be sure to have you RX bottles on hand and put the medication on the form. You don't want to get kicked out for falsifying information(not disclosing is considered falsifying) for have a legitimate RX. Good Luck to you.

Bevill State
I am currently on the Sumiton campus. As far as the classes go you will need to make sure that you have your Anatomy and Math. There are a couple of people that took regular classes along with their regular classes but it just makes it a little more vigourous. I would recommend that you take all pre req before you going in. However, the application deadline is April 1 but the classes dont start until August. I know you have to have Math 100, Anatomy 201/202 and Micro 220 as well as your speech. You will apply and then they will send you a letter advising of taking the TEAS V test. After that test has been taken then that is when the ball gets going. Good Luck!!:D

Bevill State
Hi Alovejones. I am currently a second semester nursing student and I attend Bevill. Currently Bevill takes applications 2x's a year. Once or the Fall admission(I believe that is in April) and the LPN in the Spring. You can go to the www.bscc.edu website and in the search bar enter in Nursing Program(RN or LPN) and it will give you all the classes that you must take. Hope this helps!!!
