Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone applied to Beth Israel NYC for this coming Fall? I applied there and I really want to get in. I always wanted to go. If anyone knows if it's hard to get in, or what score they are looking for on the NLN exam that would be rally helpful. And is it true that the only start giving interviews in May????

I am familiar with both schools. My daughter also applied to LICHSON as her fall back. She was accepted to both. Beth Israel into the 3 year and I think it was mostly because of her age, 17. She had a 152 on her NLN and a 3.75 HS average.
She got accepted two year LICH. I advised her to go to BI because I think it is a higher quality education. Eveyone I talk to about LICH says it is disorganized and you really have teach yourself alot of it. There actually are some postings on allnurses from students thet are quite unflattering.
I can tell you from the exposure that I have had to Beth israel graduates they are VERY VERY well trained nurses and I think that is what everybody wants is the highest quality training so you can render the highest quality care to your patients. I also think with the three year you get most of your academics out of the way and you have more time to really concentrate on your nursing courses.
I dont think to do it in three years is so terrible. Of course you have to decide for your self .....3 years high quality....2years of mediocracy......
If you were my daughter I would tell you to take the highest quality education that is avaiable to you...I am a nurse 28 years dont rush it you want to be well prepared when you enter your practice .
Honeycuts, I hope you are right....the waiting is surely going to drive me nuts, but the end results will definately make up for it.
BP I pretty much told them the truth. I was the eldest of 4, had alot of personal resposibilities, which prevented me from doing my best. Since, graduating from HS I've obtained 2 BA degrees and held a GPA of 3.6. I am hoping that they are able to see past my previous mistakes and judge me on the basis of my current acheivements, well see.
I stand by the knowledge and belief that God is in control, and all things work for his good.
I understand why they would want to know why but I find it pretty stupid to be so worried about someone's HS grades when you have someone that is sitting in front of them with 2 BA degrees. A lot of people didn't do good in high school and manage to excel greatly in college. I'm one of them. My high school GPA is actually pretty horrendous (I think a 72? which would be a 2.3 in college terms). I've gotten a 3.5 now with A's in all of my non-science courses. I hope you won't feel bad when if you don't get in, cause you're too good for them.
tripleA's, don't worry about it. These are things that are really fustrating because I think a large portion of the hopeful entering class have moved and excelled way beyond what was in HS. HS is HS, and during that time many of us many not have been that focused or centered on what will be 5 or 7 years from then. I would think the committe would understand that. But again, don't worry.

Just came back from my 2nd interview
............... it was grilling. The interviewer was mainly concern with my HS grades from 2 million years ago, she could not understand how a person with a 3.6 GPA could've done so poorly in HS. She said my files will once again go in front of the committee in two weeks and I will be notify as soon as a decision is made.
