Best time to take KAPLAN NCLEX review course?

Nursing Students NCLEX

I am graduating in May and will take the NCLEX this summer. When is the best time to take the KAPLAN NCLEX review course? Should I take it at the beginning of the semester (about 4 months before I'll actually take NCLEX) or should I wait and take the course in May just a few weeks before I take NCLEX?

Thanks in advance. I'd appreciate any feedback. :)

im also due to graduate in May and thinking the same but my supervisor told me to wait till i'm done with school and take two weeks or a month off to actually start from scratch. you know it might be hard to combine what you're learning now in school and staying focus for nclex. anyway, i hope we get response from the experts on here. thanks in advance for replying .

The sooner the better, but when you can devote your full attention to it. After your final exams and final projects have been completed for your program. You want to be sure that you graduate first or you won't have to worry about the NCLEX.

hey calioter3, i can really relate to your last statement. i had two weeks to the end of the semester and had already paid for my kaplan review, paid to BON, got my background check and some other stuffs. guess what? my last clinical day my instructor told me she does not feel comfortable passing me. i have to go back this January and complete the course. kaplan gave my money back but i still have to pay for another criminal background when i finally graduate.

I recently graduated and my school made us take Kaplan the week before finals. While it was beneficial and I learned a lot, it was hard to fully focus on what we were learning. It also messed with finals because I would look at the test, narrow it down to 2 answers and then think, "Kaplan would say this one", "but i think my professor would choose this one." I definitely recommend that you take it after you graduate so that you can fully focus on NCLEX and have the motivation of knowing you get to take it soon.

I would say not until after you graduate. The Kaplan courses are quite expensive and the lady who came to talk to us about taking them this past spring said they hold the class a few weeks after you graduate. However, I decided against taking the course upon graduating with my BSN because I found the $43 Kaplan 2010-2011 book to be EXCELLENT and the lady said the only difference between what you learn in that book and what you learn in the class is that you have "advisors" or something that you can call anytime to talk to. I also bought a few other highly reviewed books with 1,000's of practice questions and I am confident that will be enough for me to pass those boards. Good luck though! :o)

if u need to take kaplan..take it till after u graduate......... nursing school is just soooo busy even to the last minute of class
