  1. I'm in the Reserves. I also want to go Active Duty or travel. Active duty at one point was realistic but due to all the budget cuts, it is now easier said than done. Still looking into it after the new year, but also seriously considering traveling. Has anyone in the Reserves done travel nursing at the same time? Was what you made worth the cost of coming home every month or every other month to do your drill requirements? Thanks for all the info in advance! There is not much information regarding this topic!
  2. Not sure about pci experiences ... however, they do tend to hire "their own" when they graduate, pass boards and become RNs
  3. I would leave the CNA experience on there. When I got my first RN job, my CNA experience benefited me as the floor I hired on to typically only hires their students but due to the length of my CNA experience they thought I would be able to handle it. Never know what might help you to get your dream job!
  4. I wore Dove uniforms for 3 years. Yes, they are expensive, no they don't stretch and sell them to the nursing students coming in when you graduate to make some money. Mine did not yellow but I did try to only wash them with whites. My last semester I managed to get more things on them than i did the first 2.5 years ranging from green gum to blood to other interesting things. I used my detergent to scrub out most of it. Aerosol hairspray does work well to get out ink as i wrote on myself all the time. They aren't the most comfortable things, but you get used to them. Plus, once you are done, you get to go to comfortable scrubs!!
  5. I'm south of Indianapolis and our roads are fine. Schools are closed in Indy tomorrow so I would assume they are not great, but you should definitely be able to get there. North of Indy, on the other hand, has quite a bit of snow and ice.
  6. Some colleagues of mine were scheduled to take it Tuesday and they sent out emails at 7:40 saying that the testing center was closed. Haven't heard whether it's open or closed today but I would assume by tomorrow they will for sure be open. If they do happen to be closed, you are able to reschedule. I'm in Indiana.
  7. I recently graduated and my school made us take Kaplan the week before finals. While it was beneficial and I learned a lot, it was hard to fully focus on what we were learning. It also messed with finals because I would look at the test, narrow it down to 2 answers and then think, "Kaplan would say this one", "but i think my professor would choose this one." I definitely recommend that you take it after you graduate so that you can fully focus on NCLEX and have the motivation of knowing you get to take it soon.
  8. Thank you! I greatly appreciate it!
  9. I graduate in December and have been searching and applying for jobs. What is typically considered to be on a Clinical Decision Unit?? I've seen it many places and cannot get a clear explanation of what it is.
  10. Tammy, did you ever end up going to Idaho? I too am from Indiana and am looking to possibly relocate to Idaho.
