Hello everybody,
I drove across your lovely state last summer and loved it. I can not move to the area, but I would love to hear from some of the nurses there regarding their ideas on why it is so nice to be a nurse in IOWA????
You can tell the bad stuff too. LOL!

well, if I can be humorous about it, we always have a steady stream of patients. Summer provides us short term with dehydrations and heat strokes galore. Winter, we get broken hips and various other ortho problems due to the wonderful winters :) Plus no shortage in the ER with car accidents and whatnot.
Honestly though, I just love Iowa, people are (generally) friendly and you never really meet at stranger. (I can only speak for the few areas of Iowa that I have come from)
Bad thing: Lowest pay of all the states.

Haha that is so true!!
I also think that Iowa folk are pretty friendly and nice. I know personally I always try to smile when I meet someone's eyes while out in public.
We may be in a low pay state, but it also is pretty inexpensive to live here!! It is also a nice state to raise a family in, especially in the more rural areas. I never appreciated Iowa until recently, when my focus changed from "Where's the party" to "Who has the best school district"!!

ooops
When you were driving through did you open your window? Hog farms and Cows are not nearly as sweet smelling as soybean and corn fields. Did you see any corn syrup factories- they smell great (if you have a cold), but if I drive accross town it smells like popcorn or strawberries (Quaker oats making granolda bars). Cedar Rapids
