Best sources for textbooks

What have been your best sources for textbooks? I don't want to spend $45 + for a book I'll use less than a month.

I think it is best to get an older edition of the book. Amazon has been great for me. If you look at their Marketplace listings (new and used from other sellers), you can often find the books for a few cents to a few dollars.

Plus, when you are finished with your book, you can put them up for sale again on Amazon and get some of your money back.

For my regular classes (community college, not Excelsior), this fall, I had one book that I rented for about $20. That was less expensive than even buying it used, in that case. That was my first time trying a textbook rental and it worked out great. I went through Valore books for that.

Also, international editions can be very inexpensive. They are usually printed for other countries that cannot afford expensive textbooks. The pages may be in black and white, but the content is pretty much the same. I bought one brand new for about 1/5 of the regular text.

i would suggest renting your textbooks. i use www.bookrenter.com i have rented all of my books with the exception of my med surg book. i will need it for three of my courses, so it didn’t make sense to rent it each time. i also wanted to keep it as a reference for studying ncelx .

I checked my books out from libraries. When the branch I was using did not have the book, I submitted for an interlibrary loan (it cost me $1), and the book was obtained for me from whatever library in the state that had the book.

I got most of mine on textbook.com, one previous edition from what EC says to use. I have not had any problems with content in using a previous edition, except for Pharmacology. Some of my books were as little as $2.99 each. It takes sometimes up to 10 days to get them, so plan ahead! I just got all the books right at the start so I had them on hand!

ebay and half dot com were my freinds LOL spent NO more than 20 per text and ALWAYS got an edition or two previous than the recomended! you can see my signature for my grades and i've used just the text and rnbridgeprogram.com for my exams

When I was doing my ASN I bought all of my books from EBay and Half.com. You really don't need the most recent edition that EC recommends, an edition or two off will not make a major difference. Now that I started my BSN I am still buying from Half.com.

Good luck

Steve

I used Dealoz.com. You can search by the author, title, or ISBN. I love it because you can see and compare the prices for all the vendors.
