Situation: After being out of hospital nursing for a year or so, hired at hospital facility a few months ago. Initial facility was great - then they closed it. Was transferred to other facility = horrible internet pt/family review, MDs not satisfied with care. Have never felt this overloaded before (even at previous hospital jobs in past), but every night this place is constant chaos for a variety of reasons. After 1 week there, started looking for another job. Just accepted a position, but with all the background checks, etc... will take a month to get to start date. ***then to complicate matter more, just informed they are going to write me up- this issue is directly related to state facility is currently in. QUESTION: IS it better to resign, than to sign/not sign write up now and leave a place where I am very concerned for pt safety - or - wait it out (working ~ 12 shifts) and risk more write ups/pt events? I might be targeted as I have brought up concerns to management. Rationale: thinking a resignation will look better than a fire. I do not think my new job will fall through (no issue with screening process) - but you never know = just concerned if this job does fall through for some strange reason, will be hard to find another job due to "facility wasn't safe so I quit - look it up on google" explanation. Thoughts/advice - please. Thanks.
