Best prep for CPNE after FCCA

Published

In the opinion of those that have done it.... what is the best prep for CPNE? and what is a realistic time frame? I have heard about the "prep" classes offered by different people, but would just like an opinion of those that have done it. Second, when you get placed on a cancellation list for CPNE, is it with only one testing site, or with whichever has an opening? Thanks

Cancellations are within the area you applied for, call frequently to check on cancellations. Didn't use a prep so can't help there. Good luck!

The realistic time frame I will say speaking from experience, depends on you. Why do I say that? You have to know your stuff to the point that you can teach it. Make sure what you are using for the CPNE exam (course guide) from Excelsior you follow it religiously, step by step. I did not go to any prep classes. All I did was set up my own clinical simulation, and practice! practice! practice! There are a lot of videos on you tube as well that can help you set up your simulation.

You will pass!!!!!

I thought i would start practicing for the CPNE and just bought Robs training and its like way confusing to me. When are we suppose to get the CPNE CD from Excelsior? I think once we get the actual study guide, we will know what to prepare for.

You will get the CD of the study guide a couple weeks after completing FCCA. I bought Robs as well, didn't use it a bit...thought it was terrible.

I too have set up my own stations at home for practice. I purchased Robs CPNE and realized it is not current with 21st edition. He also does a wound care example that would cause a failure. I am planning to go to Sherri Taylor's workshop. I am hoping this will help me feel a bit more solid and prepared. My home dummy can only take me so far😉

I went to Sherri's workshop (Atlanta) and it wasn't a seat open in the workshop, because of the number of students. You really couldn't practice the areas that excelsior tests you on. Sherri was also taping her online videos when we were there so you couldn't interrupt to ask questions. Because of the amount of students there you couldn't really get one on one help too much. People rave on it, and she is a really nice person, but for the expense I didn't get as much as I really wanted to out of the experience. People give her a lot of credit, but I think if you apply yourself there are enough resources online to figure it out yourself. That is what I ended up doing.

I used Robscpne.com and found it hugely helpful. I would not have passed without it. Not sure what others had with it, but for me was well worth $90. Same for 2 friends of mine (one recommended it to me, and me to another that it, we all passed on the first try).

His stuff and the study guide from Excelsior was all I used.
