Hey I want to find a cheap but good school to go to for lpn. I found one school called BestMed in Dolton IL, the school cost 20,000. But they dont take finacle aid. Do anyone have any reviews about this school before I pay all this money out of pocket??

Run far away! Nursing is not the field for fast or easy. And $20000 is FARR too much to be cheap. Find a community college and do the year long program and you won't regret it.

I'm in the program now, it's a new program but it's good, the schedule is flexible which allows me to work and be home with my boys, if you got good money management I say go for it, the class sizes are small which allows you more 1 on 1 time with the instructors

Most community colleges in our area have discontinued the LPN programs and and the one that I know of is getting bad reviews on this site on top of being hard to get into

Ok!! They take wia for sure which is only 8000 also they dont have a school code for me to apply for loans. Its rwally out of pocket experience lol. Yes thats what I realized to the schedule is very flexible.

Yeah that's why I say have good money management cause they are strict about the payments, but on the brighter side, once we done with the program we won't have a load of loans to pay back and we can start off enjoying the fruits of our labor off the top! Oh and make sure you attend an open house, I received a $2000 credit towards my tuition just by attending and signing up on the spot

Wow see I didnt know that!! Man thank you so much so you in the lon program there? How long u have left ? Can u iust email me [email protected]. Im really trying to attend but I dont want t9 be paying 1500 a mouth just to pay off the school. See PCCTI is about the same 22000 but its school loans n crap. I didnt want to b in all tht debt. In how was the test was it hard?

No way, too expensive! My RN program was half that (2011). Are they accredited? What's the NCLEX pass rate?

Yes they are accredited, and compared to other private schools in the chicago land area, they are one of the cheapest, some are as high as $30,000, I was lucky to get in on the cheaper side as my tuition is only $16500, and as far as their nclex pass rates, they are too new to really have one, there is only one class that graduated before mines and of that class only one person even took the test yet but she passed on the first try, plus I'm in the class so I know I am learning a lot and I'm confident that I will be ready to pass my nclex when the time come. Not all of us are able to go right into an RN program, so this was the best option I had and I'm glad I did choose this school

They are new, so no pass rate available.

here are all the Illinois programs:

State of Illinois, Illinois Center for Nursing - Education Opportunities

If it were me, I'd look into some other programs. Most of these below also can transition into an RN program (similar to the type of program I went through - an extra summer semester to take NCLEX-PN before continuing for the RN portion).

Which Chicago Nursing Schools Offer LPN Programs?

Specializes in Leadership, Psych, HomeCare, Amb. Care.

There are more than 20 LPN programs in/around Chicago listed on the state site, which includes pass rates.

The above link is helpful as it points out the huge differences in cost between public and for-profit. :bored:

So costs, pass rates are important. Another factor to consider is job opportunities after graduation. Most Chicago hospitals are phasing out LPN positions, so you would be limited to LTC, clinics, etc.
