Best housing near Keck USC Hospital

Hello everyone. I will be going on my very first travel assignment in LA. So far the process is ok but I am getting frustrated with arranging housing. I decided to receive the stipend over company housing. I currently live in Florida and I'm doing all of my research through google and Craigslist. If anyone has any advice on where to look or any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Housing in LA can be a real challenge. Close to USC is actually not the nicer parts of LA. You may want to look for rooms for rent in Los Feliz, Silverlake or Glendale for starters. There are so many different areas in LA and neighborhoods can really change by going a few blocks in one direction. I would recommend staying within a 10 mile radius of the hospital because traffic can be a real bear in SoCal.

What kind of assignment did you end up with at USC?

Check out Pasadena, Hollywood, and areas in the San Gabriel Valley as well.

Try Los Feliz Plaza (google them)...I think they run for about $1800/month if you stay 3-6 months. USC is a very challenging hospital to work in...everyone is pretty nice but they are VERY stuck in their ways and not open to doing things a different way. Also, they just converted to computer charting. So with that being said, be very open minded come through the door!

What makes it so challenging?Luckily I am already familiar with the charting system:)

As I said in my prior thread, they are very stuck in their ways...which is not necessarily a bad thing. But they don't seem to understand the concept of "there is more than one way to skin a cat." What floor will you be on , 5N?

I will be on the telemetry/step down/dou unit, don't know that exact floor. Understood, well that is fine I will just do things the only way I know how to do them. Thank you for your input.

As a traveler you do things their way or you could end up packing and heading home in a matter of hours!

That's what I was incenuating...my other assignments have not been near as nit picky as USC

I have friends there now that don't care for it at all. I was willing to go for 13 weeks but they refused to offer me 13 and were req 26...I don't sign up for more than 13 weeks ANYWHERE on the front end!
