I have been doing some research and i was just wondering what is the best hospital to work at in Ft lauderdale? Do you make more money working in the actual city? I am interested in working at a big teaching hospital...any ideas?

A lot of my classmates who I graduated with work in Memorial Regional Hospital, they pay day shift about $23/hr + give you a $5K bonus. And they are very happy there.
I work in the best hospital ever, but it is in coral gables, FL!!!

The Memorial Healthcare System is good, and so is Holy Cross. Stay away from anything owned by HCA or Tenet.
My friend works for HCA and she hates it!!!
I almost accepted the $4K bonus to work there for 18 months, but then declined it because frankly, I love pediatrics.
Why is TENET bad?
I had my baby in a TENET hospital, and I was treated great. As a patient I was in good hands. (but then again my baby was born in easter, so just 2 babies were in the unit!)
I heard that it is hard getting a job with memorial health care system!!
I know a lot of my friends who applied there got denied, so a lot of them went to plantation general, and they love it there.

Tenet might be good to patients, but I've heard more than one nurse say hospitals owned by that chain are not good to work for. Also, you might want to consider how many of its FL hospitals Tenet has sold to other healthcare systems, especially in South Florida.

so what about Broward General because I plan on applying for the scholarship program... I heard that you get like 5,000 but you have to work there for 2 years....
My friends who worked at BG they left because it was very hard there. they are understaffed, the management does not care about the nurses.......
they let and are working in plantation general, and they love it, they say they work very hard, but the management is great, and they get treated with respect, oh yes and get paid $2 less than bg, but they say that it is worth it.

I am also looking to relocate to Ft. Lauderdale. I am interested in knowing what the average wages for a nurse is in the area. I have been a nurse for 7 years with a BSN. I am looking for a fast paced teaching hospital(prefered but not required) ED postion. I am not afraid of hard working conditions, as long as there is some support from management. I would also love to know what are some good affordable neighborhoods to raise my children in. Any advice about the area would be appreciated. thanks
Affordable housing in a decent neighborhood in Ft. Lauderdale---- IDK about that-- Watching the news alot of crime in Ft. Lauderdale area-- more than miami--- so if I were to move there-- it would have to be a gated community but those are very $$$$
