I've heard a lot of people rave about Dansko. Only problem is, I haven't seen a "wide foot" line. I have very high arches and kind of wide feet and I can't find a nursing shoe that fits without having TONS of pain from Plantar Faciitis. I recently bought from a website of C and C Sweden. I got the clogs and had to have them stretched. They were a great wear other than the pain at the top of my foot from the high arch issue. Now I'm back to Sketchers. Not bad honestly. Have to wear a sole insert tho. I honestly dont' think there is such a thing as the perfect nursing shoe. It's going to be whatever works for you and that's all I can give as advice. :>

Have a good day

You might try Birkenstocks--they have wide widths. I used to wear

Birkies, but am now a Dansko fan--I found the Birkies too wide, so you might love them.

I have worn just about everything a man can wear, but my choice for the past 5-6 years has been..Dr Scholl's !! They only cost 25$ @ Wal-Mart, have great support(gellin like a felon), and in 3-4 months I demote them to knockaround status. Then when I demote the next pair, they become my yardmowing shoes. I am a real advocate of taking good care of my feet, but I don't feel the need to impress anyone. Whatever you choose, make sure fashion is the least of the purchase factors.

I have Dansko, professional clogs, and while they are really comfy, I and several of my colleagues keep rolling our ankles in them so I amlooking for a new shoe as well. Anmyone have experience with quarks?

I was concerned about that too and the Danskos that I got were from the professional line and they were a style that had a slightly wider/athletic sole (not the wedge)... I'm not sure if they still have them or not (I can't remember the style name)??

I have heard good things about crocs, but Have to have enclosed with heel shoes for school dress code, and yep I am another Dansko lover, they are really comfy, expensive but they last forever.

I've got wide feet, too, and Dansko's work just fine. My current pair is 6 years old, handles 12-hour ER shifts with ease as well as occasional use outside the hospital. You can look for lots of bargains or buy quality once.

I love my white Birks!! I have a flat narrow foot and I love these shoes. I do not however know about the ted hose thing. I HATE any type of panyhose. Do they really help that much?

I just looked up Dansko's professionals on zappos.com and they have 5's (they use European sizes, but they have the equivalent - (35). Alot of people order up a size if they aren't sure or are in between - I got both since I wasn't sure and sure enough the bigger of the two worked.

I'm sorry, I should of mentioned the "Mary Jane" style, they don't come in size 5, or at least not at the sites I have looked at, but I will try a different brand and see if that works.

Thank you for the suggestions

Darlene

As someone who has fallen off my Danskos twice, I switched to Merrell's "Primo Breeze" they are slip ons that you can run in, are comfy from day one and even I can't fall off of!!:clown:

I love the way Dansko's feel on my feet, but I (like a few previous posters) have had problems with falling off of them. It hurts & really twists your ankle! I wish they weren't so high, although I admit I like being a few inches taller!

Merrells made me feel like i was walking barefoot on rough cement.

Birkenstocks left blisters on my arches, were uncomfortable althogether, and i don't buy the "my feet ached for a week, but i had to break them in" crap.

Danskos were ok for support, but not in the slip-resistant category, not to mention that heel. Plus, not much flexiability.

Nursemates should be sued for having the word "nurse" attached to their name. They are the most uncomfortable shoes i've ever slid on.

(I wear Crocs)

Point being, what works for some doesn't work for others, and most peopel have to go through a few pairs of different shoes before they find THEE pair for them.

i love nursemates for clinicals
