Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

Hey guys,

Has anyone tried filling out a change of curriculum form for the evening nursing program at Bergen? They said it would be there July 1st and it still hasn't been posted

Specializes in Patient Care Technician/ EMT.

Yup, tried and it still not active..

Unbelievable! I emailed and keep calling--no answer.

Specializes in Patient Care Technician/ EMT.

They are probably waiting to activate it following the health professionals seminar on july the 17th

Good morning! Possibly, but still I talked to Martinez at least a dozen times and he told me the 1st. Aggravation--

Zorro Wrangler, is the health professions seminar mandatory for fall nursing students?

No I don't believe so. These seminars are for people who are interested to learn more and see where they stand academically. Its a meet and greet sort of like orientation.

Thank you! Has anyone who is attending the Fall 2011 Nursing Program purchased their uniform and/or books? I need to get on this!

I did both..they say that they'll mail my uniform to me, and books already came in the mail.

Hi, I usually post from time to time, but during semester 3 my father had a heart attack, another stroke, CHF, and more aliments that left him in the hospital for over a month. I had to leave school ( getting stuck w/ a class not paid for ) I got fired from my job, because I wanted to spend time w/ my dad. I had to relocate to Ocean County and am trying to get into their program. So now my books from BCC are useless to me. I bought all my books ahead of time and if anyone needs books for ANY LEVEL, I have them- better then the bookstore price. If you need them contact me [email protected]

Fisherman,

I am so sorry to hear the upsetting news. I hope your situation will get better and will pray for your dad and family. You are a very good whole hearted person and you will be rewarded.

Thanks so much Nancy, I have been dealing with my dad's Alzheimer's for the past 9 years. This is his 2nd heart attack & 3 stroke. I actually went into nursing so that I could take care of my dad, but really fell in love with taking care of people. Go figure, a waiter taking care of customers and would like to take care of sick patients. I hope to get into the fall semester at OCC. I hope you do well in school. and btw, what level are you in & who do you have ? take care....fisherman
