Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!
Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.
Thanks!
I think last year the school was being re-accredited and they decided to step it up to look better. For the record, I purchased two full uniforms and one scrub jacket and I only wore one uniform - I washed it every time the second I took it off. However, it is better to have 2 b/c some people spilled ink, pens exploded, etc . . .
@italianice... Hi! I'm a BCC student, applying to evening nurse program on July 1st.... I know it starts in the spring, hoping you'd give me some first-hand info... What month did you apply/find out you were accepted?? Sooo anxious, can't believe I have to go the whoooole summer not knowing... Any bit of info would help, thank you so much :)
RP30---I'm in the evening program. To my understanding, the date to apply to the evening program is in September; at least it was last year (Sept 2010) I applied the first week of class and I didn't hear back til late September that I was eligible to sit for the HESI. I tested in early November. The Monday after Thanksgiving weekend I received an email that I was accepted. STUDY for the HESI. It's not hard but if you want to increase your chance of getting in then you need to get a high score. I have heard that other factors are considered in the admission process (i.e. residence, GPA etc..) but I have no idea what specific factor contribute besides a good HESI score.
Good Luck!!
@Gabby820... Thanks so much! They must have changed it, I spoke to someone on the phone... I can apply July 1st, but they don't review the applications until the closing date (Oct 1st). It's so crazy that I won't know if I'm in until 5 months after I apply I will definitely be studying like crazy, I'll get the study guide. My GPA is 3.5 & I live in Bergen County... So we'll see!!! Thanks again... I'll be studying & praying for the next few months for sure

The HESI book didn't really prepare me (I haven't taken bio, anatomy, and chemistry in over 5 years) I purchased Mcgraw Hill Nursing Entrance Exams. I found it much more helpful.
Good Luck!
Hello.
To my classmates for Fall 2011. I wanted to let you know that I bought books online on amazon and each book could be found for under $10. For example, nursing fundamentals book was about $4 & that's a bargain so keep an eye out and don't spend more then what you have to. Anyway, can't wait to meet all of you guys!
