Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

Wooooow... what an interesting semester it has been , sooooo glad it's over now :w00t:

Hey Missmoone.

Interesting ? How so.....hehehe Please share. any words of wisdom, suggestions or advice for our new friends here.

seriously folks... all I have to say is get ready to hit the ground running.. My experience so far is ...depending on who you get will make a hell of a lot of difference... and that .. is ... all.. I .. will.. say.. good luck!

Thank You so much.... I spoke to a counselor at bcc and the only reason I did not get in is because I am out of county(so he said) he showed me the score of someone without showing me the name , that got in with an 82 that sucks. they took 5 students out of county. wow. I am going to apply to trinitas school of nursing. wish me luck

5 students out of county....interesting... I am one of them, so I must be extremely lucky I guess, however I got 94 on hesi.....I wouldve been really surprised if I found out that I got rejected because I am an out of county student. They should probably make it official and tell the applicants that if you are out of county your chances are slim. It is a good thing I didn't know when I applied - i probably wouldn't even try:confused:

5 students... that's it. Crazy. Well I'm a Passaic resident and didn't get in with an 88 and a 4.0. Wish I knew that before I applied so I wasn't so upset. I'm going to apply for the evening program and possibly colleges that offer the BSN. I hear its getting harder and harder to be hired with an associates.

eileen17a, I live in passaice county too, somehow i just squeezed into those 5... Good luck with your application for the evening semester, I really wish you to get in. YOu must be really upset - 88 is a great score:yeah:

Daddy-o, thank you for your information. Unfortunately, I am unable to reply in an email.

At FDU you can take the bridge program into the MSN and still get your 1 year work experience if you take the MSN classes at night.

Did anyone receive a nursing packet for fall 2011? The BCC site only has the outdated packet from Spring 2011.

Not yet, I'm thinking that it will come after the 13th when everyones acceptions and declines are handed in. In the meantime I'm in the process of renewing my CPR liscense and getting my physical out of the way

Hey all, just finished level 1 and what an rough ride that was. Just a heads up for the new nursing students for the fall..... Don't get nervous, scared or discouraged about everything you read on this thread. What I'm referring to is when you hear that "50% of the class failed" I've certainly heard it! Maybe it's true but 100% of the students in my section (601) successfully passed and are on their way to level 2!! :) YAY!!!!!!!! Is this program hard, yes! There is no question that you will be overwhelmed but if you really want this and are truly interested then you ALL can do this. Not to mention that you meet amazing people along that way that not only understand what you're going through but help you when you need it. You have to prepare yourselves to put school first.Time management is a MUST. Waiting the night before the due date for a care plan to complete it simply won't do. If you truly want to prepare yourselves this summer for the fall review anatomical sites (i.e. liver, ulna, radius, iliac crest etc..., medical terminology (i.e. hypertrophy, ataxia etc.. I can't tell you how many times I had to stop reading to look up a medical term. lol I wouldn't go crazy with anything else but if you want to start reading the books go right ahead, it won't hurt. :) Feel free to ask questions..I have all the time in the world now :) GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!
