Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

i have not touched my books from Level 1 nor 2 since those semesters ended.

The Prentice Hall, Made Simple, Dummies and Davis' review books that i bought i have, but not the text books for the classes.

Are we supposed to bring anything with us tomorrow?!

Hey guys sorry I haven't been online in a while! This Summer has been one thing over another, and I have like, NO time. But anyway, I was at the orientation today, and was wondering what are your thoughts? You can also PM me if you like. I thought there was a lot of useful information. I could have used a break though because omg those chairs are hard on your tush! LOL. And ukgirl I saw the director blow up your spot! LOL. I was going to say hi, but once the thing ended I had to fly out of there, so I didn't have the opportunity to.

Haha!! I was wondering who saw that exchange that would recognize "Ukgirl" and know what she was referring to (Hi, Professor Murko! ;)) but I don't know what any of you look like!! Oh my gosh, I thought that was great! I guess I'm not hard to peg, seeing as how my email address clearly says "ukgirl7655" so the similarity between my screen name on here and my contact info for the school is unmistakable...but for some reason I was still caught off guard like, "how did you know?!" -- DUH!! LOL!! That was too funny. :lol2:

I think today was very helpful!! I wouldn't say that I am more "at ease" but I definitely feel like I have a better grasp on the scope of work we are facing. However, I'm bummed that I can't get my books yet! I'm thinking about just using my out of pocket money (what little I have left!) to go ahead and buy the books and then "reimburse" myself when they send me the balance from my loan in November, or whenever they send it. And here I was trying to get in all my "fluff" reading before school starts since I won't be able to read for pleasure for a few months! Haha!! I read 2 books last week and ordered 4 more to get'um in while I can! But I guess I will just have to get back to my V.C. Andrews "trash" over Christmas break ;-)

that was pretty funny..:lol2: but it's wierd; i didn't hear her address you at all lol, and i was there VERY early.....hmmmm maybe i just didn't notice...

orientation today was exciting for me, very... i'm ready to begin! hope you all enjoyed it and are prepared as well

ukgirl; i know just how you feel! i want to get my books now, all of this waiting for the student loan money to come through can be aggravating..!

Yea Prof. Murko pulled her to the side and asked lol. I was to the left of them but I didn't want to interrupt the conversation:)

And I am also so excited to start already!

I know!! Next week is my last week at my job, bittersweet. So today really kick-started everything for me...1 week left of work in my current career, 1 week to redo the second bedroom into my school-domain, go home to KY for Labor Day weekend and then its on =)

What are yall doing for work during school? I've interviewed for a part time job at a gym and have been in talks with a few families for part time babysitting during the week....but if I commit to picking up someone's kids from school and they are depending on me I can't be at all "flexible" with my schedule on those days, so after today that makes me a little nervous. I don't want to sacrifice a school "thing" for a part time babysitting job but I would never put someone in a spot that I have agreed to be there for either (specially when I'm trusted with their kiddies!). Decisions, decisions....

The full Saturday clinical sounds like a sweet deal to me, but I wish I knew that it was even a possibility before I registered my daughter for daycare. I would rather come in one long day instead of two short ones. Who knows, maybe if that is an option I could make it work...but right now it is not looking too promising:/

any one received uniforms yet? or saw anything on webct?

i still have to go get fitted for mine, this is the only thing i am running late with

but we don't need them till very late October, i think they said the week of the 25th - around there...

still gives me two months- but i know i gotta get on that!

Anyone see anything on WebCT yet? We are supposed to print out information and such no? Would be great if it was posted tomorrow so I can print whatever it is at the library while picking up the kit...

I haven't been able to get on webCT =*( I think it's because of Firefox on my MAC...anyone else using firefox and been able to get on?!?!

I am goin to BCC first thing tomorrow to pick up the skills kit, all we need is our ID right?

PS - I got my uniforms today!!! Woohoo!!....and apparently the XS got a wee bit smaller since I tried it on back in June (since I refuse to admit I gained weight since my wedding - LOL!!!). Hope all my milky ways and Starbucks go easy on me between now and October 25th!! Haha!
