Bergen Community College Nursing Evening 2015

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hey everyone, I know its early but I was just wondering who was going to apply for the 2015 Evening Nursing program. I have attempted to apply for the 2014 day program but was denied due to the fact that my "Chemistry" prerequisite class was unacceptable. Anyways, I was hoping we could all help each other out when the time comes.

Hey!

I applied yesterday but I still need to send in my hs and college transcripts. By any chance do you know if stats is still a requirement?

Not that i know of.

Im looking at the pre reqs now and all you need is algebra (MAT 031 and 032 or MAT 035) at least from what it says.

On top of that you need chemistry, anatomy, sociology, psychology and developmental psychology. :) i took stats at a different university and transffered it over. I would just make sure with bergen if it is required though i dont think so hope this helps :)

Thank you! I'll probably attend the informational session. I really don't want to have an issue with the Math prerequisite, especially since I have taken up to Calc. Besides Math I have everything covered. I'm so excited! Even though it is still early.

Besides the application on Bergen's website, is there anything else that is necessary? Essay, references, resume, etc. I feel the application process is quite lenient.

I wasnt able to join the day nursing program because of chemistry. Im taking the rest of my prereqs this year so hopefully ill get in for the evening.

From my previous research of how the process works, the deadline is oct 1st so if you sent the application/change of curriculum form then your done for now. After they review it, you will get an email about a background check which you pay for i think. If your backgriund is clear, you will proceed to testing and take the HESI entrance exam. From the there, its all waiting and finfers crossed.

Hello! I'm currently living in Florida and was recently given the opportunity to live in Jersey with family to attend nursing school.

My local college here has different pre reqs which I've completed and am applying to start in January, which has been my plan and just in case jersey doesn't work out. I also applied to Bergen and requested transcripts to be sent by mail.

I was wondering if anyone knew how much the pre reqs vary. I see that chemistry and sociology are needed. I took "Chemistry for Health Sciences" and "Social Problems" (a sub level of sociology). Do you think these would be enough? I read they required general chem but I feel that the course I took is just as informative and focuses on nursing, which only helps in the long run.

Thanks for any feedback!!

I believe that is something that can be answered by a transfer counselor. The Chemistry required for the Nursing program in Bergen is "Intro to Chemistry (CHM 100)". I'm sure if you took a higher level of chemistry than that, it will pass. But... Don't take my word for it. I highly recommend that you talk to your counselor.

Thanks for the quick response! It's just so strange to me since I've always lived in Florida and am new to this transfer stuff (:

I figured I'd let my transcripts arrive before I called, bc it says they do a full transcript review before allowing me to apply to the nursing program. Just anxious since I'll have to give up my job and move 900+miles. Started looking through all nurses and figured I'd ask.

Pre reqs vary between all universities and community colleges. My best advice is to ensure all your transcripts are sent to Bergen and wait to see which classes are accepted as pre reqs.

I say wait a month or so for it to process. Maybe you can give them a call for an update. I just recently sent my transcripts as well and I'm hoping the college updates my file soon.

Good luck! Besides this, I'm in the same boat as far as pre reqs.

WOW. That is a big risk to just pick up and move.

But I hope everything will go smoothly.

All you have to do now is wait and be patient.

Hopefully Bergen will give you a quick response though they tend to be slow with these things :(
