Being chosen as an Alternate. Is it as awful as I feel?

I am pretty upset I just found out I was chosen as an alternate for nursing school. I do not have a back up plan and I am pretty upset. I really want to go, but I don't know what to think. Is it as upsetting as I feel? Has anyone who has been admitted into nursing school been an alternate?

Well, I called my school today and talked to someone. I was told that 91 people applied and 22 got accepted. According to the FAQs on their website the alternates are a percentage of the remaining qualified applicants. The lady told me she thinks everyone was chosen as an alternate. I am not sure which is the case. If everyone is an alternate that means there are 69 alternates!!! Not likely I will get in. I was not told where I am on the list but according to my GPA, she told me it was probably low on the list. My pre req GPA is a 3.9!!! My overall from my previous BA is a 3.3. This is what kept me out of nursing school my grades in Intro. to ACCOUNTING, ECONOMICS ETC!!!! Meanwhile I ace all my science courses. I am really upset about this!!!!

Office personnel are not always good sources for information. Unless you are told by someone at the school who has authority, I would not go with what you have been told. Consider it to be speculation only. Find out the truth before you become upset.

It was the lady who was listed on the letter. She has her Doctorate. I am not sure what her title is. I am just going to try and stay positive. I am working on plan B now. UGH!! It is just one of the joys of nursing school admittance.
