I am looking for advice on pre acceptance learning. I am currently taking the prereqs to be accepted into an accelerated BSN program at Winston Salem State University, in NC.
I have an entire year would it be helpful to start to learn pharmacology and med. terminology?? Or are there any other suggestions?

Absolutely! Getting over those stumbling blocks will give you a huge advantage. If you can, get your CNA cert as well- having those basic skills down, or, even better, working as a CNA, will give you a lot of confidence in school that will allow you to focus more on the harder stuff instead of trying to get past the initial discomfort of touching patients intimately or having to ask them about their bowel movements. This can take awhile for some, so being comfortable with those basics will be really helpful.
Good luck!

I believe so. I am taking medical terminology now even though it's not required. With the sheer volume of memorization involved, I am glad I am learning it now and not during nursing school craziness! I figured it couldn't hurt!

Check your program, some allow you to comp out of Medical Terminology when you're accepted into a nursing program if you took it during pre-reqs. I'm not sure about your specific school's requirements, but ours required you to have A&P and Micro completed before taking Pharmacology.

I wish I was taking medical terminology this semester. Several friends have found it to be very helpful. Pharma was a pre-req for us so that's already checked off my list. This is a link to the youtubes from my pharma prof. He's great. I loved his class. His whole class is available on YouTube.
Cheers!

Learn your medication dosage material too! Take a 1 credit math class or something of the like.
