I am about to start my journey with Excelsior. Those of you who are well along or finished, looking for some direction. I have spent some time reading the posts, and seems everyone has a healthy concern about the CPNE. My question is can someone like myself just starting out do anything to start to prepare from the beginning ? Can I do something for example like getting Bob's video, getting certain textbooks, working on getting prepared now for the CPNE in small steps and increment5s from day one while taking the rest of Excelsior courses to get my RN,or perhaps my base of knowledge is not wide enough yet,to thinkk about doing anything about the CPNe at this point. Thanks for your input in advance. :yeah:

Take it one test at a a time. One. at. a. time.

And you will complete them all and become an RN.

I tried to focus on just the concept tests and didn't even want to think about the CPNE at that time. Once I started I decided to take a test every 3 weeks so that I could stay focused and just get it done. I didn't want to get distracted at all by thinking about the clinical exam. Now I am two months into the waiting game for the CPNE and trying to stay focused but I know I will get more determined once I get an actual date. Rob's video is a great thing to invest in-really breaks it down and take out a lot of what if's. Also, get a wound for practicing because it is not like real life nursing, it is a test and that is how you need to focus on it.

While you get ready for the last concept exam, make sure to get your cpr updated, tb skin test updated, physical exam with immunization form signed, photo and background check done and ask them to send you the disc with the study guide so that as soon as you are eligible for the CPNE you are ready to submit everything with your application.

Hope this helps!!

Like me I am waiting for my CPNE date before I can even get to study. I suggest you take it one exam at a time. Schedule your exams study, take it you will get there. I can't believe I am almost there, it seems like yesterday I took my first exam.

Wise advice you've received ... tackle the CPNE when it is time! :)

Just wanted to chime in and say that I am also waiting for a CPNE date. And you should definitely just take it one exam at a time. I couldn't imagine trying to study for the CPNE while I was taking my exams. I would casually look over threads pertaining to the CPNE but I didn't start gathering my supplies for it until these last couple of weeks.

Thank all of you whose footsteps are way ahead of mine for your advice and encouragement. I see the consensus is to do one exam at a time, and the time for getting ready for the CPNE will eventually arrive.:)
