BCIT September 2019 Intake Discussion

Published

Hey everyone, now that offers have been given for January/April 2019 intakes, mind as well fire up a new discussion for the September 2019 intake.

Anyone else planning to take the LIBS courses prior to applying?

Hey guys!

Fairly new to this as I just discovered this forum. Congrats to everyone who got in. That's so exciting!!

I'm just wondering how did you guys find out you got in? Did you get an email or something? I keep checking my application status and it says "pending department review." Slightly anxious and confused now lol

I also applied to UBC and U of A after degree programs. Fingers crossed as they're accelerated and that would be great.

I received an email saying I had a message in my BCIT account and the acceptance was posted to there. If you have not heard yet - maybe they are rolling them out in batches?

Hopefully! Been checking my email since the morning but perhaps I'll hear back by Monday or so. It's so nerve-wracking just waiting lol

Hey guys, I have not received anything either. Congrats to everyone who got in! you all deserve it.. I am just curious.. for the people that got accepted, what did you apply with? Regarding the academic and pre reqs and credits.

I have a BSc in nutrition and food science, GPA is a 3.6/4, 2 years working as a private caregiver for adults with dementia. I have various volunteer experience here and abroad as well but I've read they don't care much about that. Not sure what they used for my prereqs whether they look at high school grades or my post secondary grades but I'd say my average is mid 80's.

Good luck to those who have not heard back yet!

I have medical degree and nursing working experience from my home country. For the past year in Canada, I did my prerequisites, volunteering and worked part-time at BCIT. My grades are all As.

I am planning to take LIBS 7001 and 7002 this summer. Anyone else?

I also applied to UBC! It's so competitive, and it seems that there are a lot of stronger applications than mine, but i'm still waiting it out! The fact that it's an accelerated program is definitely appealing! Good luck to you with your other programs ?

By the way, where does it say we have to take LIBS 7002 as well? I was looking at the updated program schedule, and it only lists LIBS 7001 and LIBS 7021?

LIBS 7001 and 7002 are mentioned in the Frequently asked questions section as courses that can be taken in advance to decrease workload during the program.

As you mentioned, program curriculum mentions LIBS 7021, and now I am totally confused.

I haven’t signed up for any LIBS courses yet

Okay cool, it's not just me that's confused! I've sent an email! I'll let you know when they get back to me.

The LIBS requirements for the nursing program is LIBS 7001 and the option of either LIBS 7002 or 7021.
