I was also told that I could include my university level math and chem marks!

I wouldn't hesitate with emailing admissions about your questions! They are very helpful.

There's nothing to be ashamed about with upgrading your high school-level math and chem marks! I had terrible grades in high school, and also had to upgrade math, chem, and physics when I was 22, so I definitely know how you feel. I hope it helps knowing that you're not the only one who had to upgrade to move on!

Hi Sumad, thank you so much for your helpful response! It definitely helps. ? I spoke with admissions and they said it is okay to submit midterm marks - but since it is a competitive program its better to submit final marks. I'll apply anyway and keep trying if I don't get in.

Goodluck to everyone! ?

Does anyone know approximately when we will hear back about admissions decisions?

Should be hearing something within 2 months or so.

Hey wizkid! Nice to see a familiar username :') I've actually registered for an online LIBS 7001 class already for Winter 2019!

Hello!! How was LIBS 7001 online? I'm looking to take it in the summer and would love some insight on the workload, etc.! Thank you:)

It's good to see a familiar name as well. I just got back from a month of vacation and I'm going to register for the LIBS7001 and 7002 classes online, while working on the side (just so I don't bore myself to death). I was told that it doesn't matter if we've completed the course when we apply for the September intake, they will have access to our records at BCIT so they will be able to check.

Hopefully we get in this coming intake! ?

Hello!! How was LIBS 7001 and 7002 online? I'm looking to take it in the summer (possibly even both!) and would love some insight on the workload, etc.! Would it be possible to work full-time and be able to get good grades in the two courses? Thank you:)

LIBS 7001 online is pretty lenient in terms of course work and papers! It's pretty much weekly discussion posts and two major papers (at least with the prof that I have, I can't speak on behalf of the others). There's readings but it's nothing that no one can handle ?

Hey guys! I'm planning to apply with the following and I'm not sure if it is competitive?:

A&P 1/2: Both B+

Psychology: A+

Statistics: A

Microbiology: A-

English: B -

This should make my pre-req GPA 3.5? Assuming it's a 4 point scale, 3.56 if it's on a 4.33 scale. I am applying with a 110 credits and finishing up my Bachelor's of Sciences. Unfortunately my cGPA is kind of low (2.95), would that have any effect on my application?

I currently work with the Nurse Next Door Program, and have previous experience in customer service, most notably through being a manager at a coffee shop and a barista at another. Would those customer service jobs also apply on my application?

I have also volunteered a lot through Cardiac Rehab, Renal Unit, Recreational Therapy, One to One Visitor at senior homes and hospitals!

It's great to meet you guys and thank you in advance for answering my questions!

Hey!

LIBS 7001 and 7002 are both fairly easy imo.

For LIBS 7001, just as vanessabeaa has mentioned, there are weekly discussion posts along with 2 essays. We also have a mandatory peer review and 2 exams (one of which you do at home). Overall I found that this course did tend to have a lot of readings, but some of the readings could be ignored because it is just extra incase you didn't understand the other readings. You basically have readings for the discussion posts and readings to teach you critical reading/writing skills.

For LIBS 7002, the first half of the course was reading about arguments and what constitutes an argument, identifying them, etc. The second half is basically case studies where you read a passage and you choose a section of the passage and write the argument in that passage and a counter argument. These are the only discussion posts you need to do and you don't have to reply to them. There are also weekly quizzes which are based on the reading. So if you have read the material then you will do fine on these quizzes because you will have 2 hours to complete 7-10 multiple choice questions. I usually finish them within 5 mins or less. There was also 2 short essays (about 700 words each) and 2 exams.

Overall, if you are working full time and try to get readings in each day, you should be able to complete both these courses and get a good mark. The only thing I should mention is that the LIBS 7001 essay, the second one is going to be a persuasive research paper, but it shouldn't be too bad.

You application looks great!

Unfortunately applicants score more points when they have a completed degree, but since you have a fair amount of credits already, that will give you a high score. In terms of GPA, they do consider your cGPA as well, so it would have an effect on your application, but I wouldn't worry too much as it isn't the only thing they consider on the application.

Your work experience sounds good. From what I know, they want applicants to have work experience that is health/medical related, but it isn't limited to just that. You can have customer service related experience or leadership as well (which you can add with your managerial position).

Volunteer experience doesn't really get looked at. It is only used to determine which candidate has a better application. For example, if Person A and Person B had the same points scored on their application, they look at other things like volunteer. So if Person A had volunteer experience that is health related and Person B had none, Person A would likely be chosen.

Hope this helps and good luck to us!

My application is pretty similar to yours.

I have a completed Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences at SFU.

My cGPA is about the same as yours, and my marks are within the B to A range for the core prerequisites.

I have work experience as a pharmacy assistant as well as a retail job that gave me customer service and leadership roles.

I’ve also done a fair amount of volunteer work in varying positions throughout hospital. I've helped host events like AIDS Awareness and I'm still volunteering.

The additions to my application would be both LIBS 7001 and 7002 courses.

Wow your application looks amazing well! If I may ask, is this your 1st time applying? If not, did you possibly get any feedback from previous applications? What did the advisors say?
