BCIT nursing Sept 2015 intake

Published

Hello all!

This is my third time starting a forum (aka my third time applying to a program...).

I am planning on applying to BCIT BSN for September 2015 intake.

Applications have already opened, but I am still waiting on marks. In my case, I have everything but my grade 11 courses (ha). I am currently finishing up Chem 11 and Math 11 because I had a C+.

....I guess grade 11 really does matter.

The deadline is April 1st. Here are the prerequisites as of January 2015:

*note: all changes are in italics

  • English: two years of education in English in an English-speaking country
    (previous requirement: B)
  • Chemistry 11 (73%)
    (previous requirement C+)
  • Math: one of the following:
    (previous requirement C+)
    • Principles of Mathematics 11 (73%) or 12 (67%) or
    • Applications of Mathematics 12 (73%) or
    • Foundations of Mathematics 11 (73%) or 12 (73%) or
    • Pre-Calculus 11 (73%) or 12 (67%) or
    • MATH 0007 (73%)

  • Academic Foundations requirement: Completion of 18.0 university credits with a minimum of (67%) in each of the following courses:
    • ENGL 1177 Academic Writing or a first-year transferable English composition course* (3.0 credits)
    • Anatomy & Physiology* - must have been completed within the past 3 years (6.0 credits)
    • PSYC 1101 Introductory Psychology 1 or an equivalent Psychology course* (3.0 credits)
    • General Education [PDF] electives at a 100 level minimum in at least 2 different academic disciplines (6.0 credits)

Feel free to share your story or concerns. I've found it useful to have a forum open for people to discuss their concerns throughout the process.

All the best to you!

Hello everyone,I observed this thread in silence so far, and today I decided to join the conversation. I was too shortlisted for August 2015, and I have completed the questionnaire last night. It wasn't that bad as I expected. The only thing that I have found difficult was to maintain the 250 word limit. I tried to keep it but I exceeded too a couple of answers. Now that the questionnaire has come to the end of the availability, I guess all we have to do is to wait.So let the waiting game begin! Good luck to everyone and I hope we get an answer soon.

Welcome to the convo! :)

Do you guys think we'll hear back before the 30th?

Finished the questionnaire this morning! I definitely found the time constraints and word limit hard to stick to! I was pretty close for all of them except the last one... I think I went just over 400 words for that one :o, and I went about two mins over in time I think before I realized. Also was there a word count on the quiz? I couldn't find one, so I was just copying and pasting into word, which definitely wasted some of my time! I also have a copy of my answers now too, and going over them, I'm not overly happy! Haha I wish I would have had more time to review, but overall I think it was ok! Just glad it's over with, and all we have to do now is wait :)

@Rayanne203 yeah I think we will hear back before then

I know how you feel with regards to rereading the answers after submitting! But I think as people we are naturally hard on ourselves, I'm sure you did great!

Ya, I heard in the past applicants could save the test and come back to it. If only....lol

I find myself constantly checking my BCIT email lol! Like every few hours...it's not healthy haha. 😜

@Rayanne, OMG, Yes that is definitely not healthy...Ahaha! Yea I have 3 out of 4 finals left so I guess that will keep me occupied ahaha!

Anyway, I don't think there is a word limit per answer. I have over 300 words per answer on mine and it still accepted it.

Me too Rayanne203. I am doing the same thing, even though I am sure we won't have a response till the end of the month. The waiting game is not my friend!

Cheers to you all!

Hmm...yeah. The committee did let us know that we won't hear from them til a bit before or after the 30th... that's in two weeks not counting this one :D

Thinking about it tho, I use to be an ESL and my grammar skill isn't that great either...so I'm kind of scared if they are going to factor my grammar skills! WAHHHHHHH~!

Awe don't worry, English is my first language and I'm still trying to perfect my grammar ! As another poster said, they are more concerned with content I'm sure. They must know that it's hard to edit and try and plan what we wanna say in the 90 minute time limit.

Yeah logically I know what the committee said, but my neurotic side impulsively checks the email 😜. Two weeks is going to feel like the longest two weeks of my life 😿.

It's tough knowing there is always a chance I could be cut, but that's life I guess. I'm going to stay positive either way!!!

I hope you guys are well :) two more weeks to go!

Ahaha OMG two more weeks!! In this time of game I really just want to build a time machine :D LOL!

I don't think there was a word count on the questionnaire but I made sure I was under 250 words per question on word. Tried to keep my answer concise and to the point. Hopefully it was enough. It was definitely hard to come up with answers and examples on the spot yet still trying to answer the question!!

:)
