BCIT Nursing January 2015 Applicants

World Canada CA Programs

Published

I decided to start this thread for all the other eager nursing applicants just like myself! I am going back to Capilano University to take some Biology courses (Bio 112&Bio 113), Psychology (Psych 100 & 101), English 100, Sociology 100, and Philosophy 101. This is based on BCIT's new requirement for the 2014 intake! In addition to that, I have also been working for Vancouver Coastal Health as a Health Care Assistant for about 2-3 years now. I am looking at about 45-50 post secondary credits after I finish all the courses at Cap! I might take Libs 7001 on May 2014, then apply for the January 2015 intake!! Anyone else interested in BCIt Nursing program January 2015 intake?

They have actually changed so much! I just checked the website for BCIT nursing, you're required to fill out a form-asking your strength, related experience, etc. They also added more electives options, and they extended the application too! I'm thinking of applying for Aug 2014 intake instead. Is anyone going to the info session this Nov 25?

Excited and stressed applicant,

Frances

Hi Frances, yes they've changed the page quite a bit! I think it's strange that they've extended the application deadline to April 1st, when many people will be finishing up their classes at the end of April... I'd rather start in the August 2014 intake too, as I'll be finished all my prerequisites in April.

Hopefully I can come out for the info session, but I might have to just watch it online. I wonder if it will be interactive and whether we'll be able to ask questions online somehow?

I emailed them asking about the General Electives and she referred me to that new document which I didn't know about, haha. Looks like I can't use my psych electives for General Electives...

I also want to go to the info session but I think I'm just going to end up listening to it online.

Did you guys mean the Aug 2015 intake instead of Aug 2014?

Yeah I wonder why they don't accept psychology electives. I have a bunch of those!

I was referring to the August 2014 intake :-) I'll be finished my degree in April 2014 so I'd love to be able to start in August rather than waiting for January... I have no idea what what to do for 8 months, I guess I should enjoy the time off before starting school again :-P

I would love to apply for the Aug 2014 intake! I was supposed to graduate April 2014 as well except due to unfortunate course scheduling, I would only need one more course to graduate which is only offered in the Winter 2014 term... =.=

Most likely going to apply for the Jan 2015 or Aug 2015... Applying for Jan 2015 seems so soon since I will only be done my degree requirements in Dec 2014... No time for relaxing :( But on the other hand, waiting till Aug 2015 is a LONG stretch. AHH..

Hi everyone !

This is actually my first time on here and it's kind of relieving knowing people are going through the same struggles and who are aiming for the same thing. Just a question as to how many credits are you all standing at right now and have you applied previously? I know application process is also based on so many other things (grades, work experience, etc), but I know a few people who got accepted for last years intake and I feel like I'm falling behind. I'm only 21 and my friend got accepted at 23 yet my other friend is 26. This will be my second time applying ( but I knew I wouldn't make the first one because I was missing a course)

Hi everyone! I've been so busy with school that I forgot to check this thread! I have 46 credits by the end of April, and I will have additional 6 credits after the summer term,so, i'll have a total of 52 post secondary credits! I'm going to apply for Aug'14 intake but I'll be handing in my midterm grade for this term(i'm still doing bio, psyc, and archaeology as my elective!). I'm just waiting for the form from vancouver coastal health ( i work as a residential care aid and a community health worker) that says how many hours ive worked in total. Although i've been told that I only have about 10% chance of getting in if I hand in my midterm grade, i'm still willing to try it this aug'14 intake! I will let you guys know how this will turn out! Has anyone else applied for aug'14 intake?

Have u already handed in ur application?

Time to apply!!! :nailbiting:

Hey everyone...Have people started applying yet? I need someone to tell me that I'm not going crazy - when I first opened the additional form for the application, there were multiple sections such as 'personal strengths' etc, but having opened it again today there is now only 'related experience' and 'related coursework'... did they just update the application or am I really missing something here?

Hi all! Newcomer to the forum here :)

For those who applied to the August 2014 intake and did not receive any acceptance status, did you guys' status also changed to rejected or something along the lines? Mine still says "Pending department review". Is it safe to assume that I (and those in similar situation) did not get accepted? I'm plan to call them tomorrow to confirm but I am just wondering if anyone can help clarify on that.

Also, I have to take Anat&Phyl again with labs components (cause Langara Nursing requires one) soon. Anyone else in the same boat? I graduated from UBC but I wont be taking my courses there. Any recommendations for smaller institutions? It'll be nice to be in the same class with someone who has similar goals! :D

@jmcl - not crazy yet :p I just checked it and they did take out the personal strengths.
