  1. A few of the programs in BC have January intakes, not sure about other provinces... Check out BCIT, Langara, Kwantlen and University of the Fraser Valley. They all have different admission requirements though. What would you be applying with? Have you taken any pre-requisite courses?
  2. shellbar I sent you the link :) Yeah I'm also wondering about the older editions... I guess it would really depend on the instructor. But from what I've heard from someone in the program, many people use one edition back without problems. I only bought one book so far, the 1st Canadian edition of the Physical Examination book because that's what's listed in the pre-reading list (even though it says 2nd edition on the booklist!?) and omg sooo much pre-reading lol....
  3. Myaconnor, I PM'ed you the link :) I think I'll probably just get most of the books used because they're so expensive!
  4. You can do the WHMIS test online, it's really easy! There's a link and instructions in one of the documents when you login to "Desire2Learn" I only signed up for the CPR HCP, I don't think you need the First Aid one
  5. I made a Facebook group BCIT Nursing August 2014 Intake :)
  6. Congrats Cesh, xmichelle and myaconnor !!! Chiseen, pending is better than a no, they must still be looking over your application. I hope you hear some good news soon :)
  7. kath22 I'm not sure how many spots are left, but there must be people who have received offers from more than one school or have decided to decline their offer for other reasons. The commitment fee is due on June 5th so there will probably be more spots available after that date too! I took one LIBS course last semester and am currently taking the second one. I think they put more emphasis on how many post-secondary courses you've taken and things like volunteer work :) If anyone is looking for scrubs, check out Walmart's website, they have a bunch of them on mega clearance. I got 3 pants and 3 tops for under $20 total and free shipping! I haven't received them yet so not sure what the quality is like, but they seem to have decent reviews on the website. Can always return them if they're horrible but for $3 a piece you can't go wrong Regular price is $16 each
  8. My last name starts with F so they may be going alphabetically? Hope everyone hears some good news today
  9. Aaahhhhh I got accepted!!
  10. Congrats shellbar!! I just checked and mine still says pending department review... Now I'll be constantly refreshing that page lol Good luck everyone!
  11. I wouldn't say that it's impossible to get an A through the online course, however I would say that it's more difficult. It's hard to learn something like anatomy only by reading the textbook. I took only BIOL 1593 online, and I did ok but didn't get an A. I decided to take the second half of A&P in person and got an A+. I found it way easier, not because the content was easier (in fact I would say that it was much more in depth) but because I just learn better in a classroom. When I think back about the questions that were on the final exam for BIOL 1593 I think "Wow those were easy, how did I get that wrong?" After taking the course in class and having the labs, it just stuck with me more. So really it depends on your learning style. If you're good at memorizing things and have taken science classes online before, I'm sure you'll do fine. I don't mind taking some courses online but for this one, the learning style just wasn't for me.
  12. I can't believe your transcript got lost in the mail! Yeah I'd go pick it up too just to be sure... Yes I'm taking LIBS 7001 right now. I just got the book a few days ago so I haven't done anything yet, I should get going! Have you started? Myaconnor, I took 7002 before 7001 so it shouldn't be a problem :) I took some similar classes on critical thinking and writing, and academic writing and they didn't accept them. It's worth asking them though, they might recognise it. Which course did you take?
  13. Hi Cesh! Yes I just uploaded my final transript last week. Is there any way you can check how long the wait is for your transcript? 2 weeks seems like a long time! It may be worth it to get the rush transcript like Myaconnor said if your school is backed up with transcript requests. I had previously sent them my grades unofficially but my application status didn't change until they received the final transcript.
  14. Well at least my application has finally changed from "insufficient" to "pending department review" I guess that's a step in the right direction lol Hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer!!
  15. Thanks for the update Cesh, that makes me feel like a whole lot more optimistic! I've been trying to prepare for the questionnaire the last few days, I'm just about to start it :S
