Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.
First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:
Highschool reqs
Precalc 12 - 99
CHEM 11 - 86
UNI reqs (UBC)
ENG112 - 74 (B)
PSYC101 - 72 (B)
CPSC - 86 (A)
STAT - 82 (A-)
A&P1 - TBD
A&P2 - TBD
I'm taking A&P in the Summer
experiences
- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer
- first aid volunteer
- pharmacy assistant volunteer
Here are my questions:
Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?
Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.
How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?
I'm pretty sure they're only doing the January intake. Wouldn't make sense to deal with April first
The only thing I'm concerned about is that it does say that the people who applied for April will also hear the final status by Oct 31...so you would think they would deal with both at once?

hopefully that is why I haven't gotten any updates yet on my application status. I applied for the January intake
I try to keep myself busy so i dont constantly check my emails and my bcit account coz im gunna go nutss. But when i opened the forum this morning, somebody said their status changed, thats when I noticed mine changed as well. Soooo not really sure if it was from yesterday or todayy.

Yeah that's what I think too, because both January and April intakes have to hear back by October 31st. They did that last year and allowed the option for January intakes to defer to April if they wanted to (I think, this is just based off of last year's forum)
So stressful ahaha, my last name starts with a G and I applied for January, but my status hasn't changed 3. My last hope is that they are going based on ranking of applicants and not alphabetically, but I'm starting to accept that I didn't get in this time. Good luck everyone!
