BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

I could have sworn I saw it though and when I posted my comment, it switched to fingers crossed only. @Lisa can you please clarify?

HeyItsIan, perhaps im going craazy but Lisa's comment said something different before about how she got accepted and can see the names of her classmates. Her comment does not say its been edited though so maybe my mind is playing tricks on me??

I saw that too!! I'm so confused ;-;

I saw that too because I get email notifications when someone posts on here. lol Thats strange

Hey guys! Just checked my application status and it says I got accepted but conditionally (it says Cond. Accept. - Supplemental)...not sure what that means?

@wc93 did you get an email?? or just checked your application status? Congrats on getting accepted! Also what letter does your last name start with?

for everyone who gets accepted this early on in the application process, it would be nice to state the first letter of your last name

Thank you! I didn't get an email...I checked my status online myself. My last name starts with the letter C, so maybe its alphabetical?

yeah probably! Did you apply with a degree or previous health care experience?? I'm wondering which types of applicants are getting accepted first
