Hi, I do not have kids but I can try to give some insight. Working is not possible at all with the pace and the amount of work that has to get done. I think that many of the parents in my cohort do have their kids home with them. Almost all studying is done on your own like reading, doing questions, etc so whatever you need to get that stuff done. Clinicals are pretty tough to get a "good" schedule since they are 12 hour shifts and there are limited days and times that your preceptor can take you etc. You can opt to go on weekends if that is an option. There is always nights too.. Let us know if you have more q's.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful! I'll definitely be back if I have more questions ?

Hello, If anyone in this cohort is selling their books please lmk I’m starting in the fall!

Hey!

I am selling my Health Assessment, Nursing fundamentals, & mental health(Healthy Aging) , right now, I’ll have med surg available later this fall around October.

Hello 2020 Cohort!

I am starting this August and want to be as prepared as humanly possible for this undertaking.  Is there anything you wish you had known before starting?

Can anyone tell me about the Pharmacology class?  Big assignments, stuff you wish you had known before (like medication cards or anything really)

What type of facilities have your clinicals been? Any SNF?

Also- shoes...I didn't see any requirements about the shoe color but I want to be certain I can wear my beloved Hokkas (they are navy blue).

Anything other advice?

Thank you in advance!

You have to have a really determined mindset going in. It is very doable but you have to be prepared to study like it is a 9-5 job. For the pharmacology class, and all classes, you need to find a method of studying that works for you. If the prof recommends something and it doesn't work for you then don't do it, you have to do what helps you the most. I recommend learning the medications within their classification to make it easier. Our clinicals have been in the hospital aside from the community clinical where some of us were in schools, hospice, specialty facilities. Our required shoes were all white or black leather. I assume it is the same. Let us know if you have anymore specific questions.
