For those that got in, what Chemistry courses are accepted? Is introduction to chem fine or does it have to be gen chem. Thanks!

I took Intro Chem, so that one will work!

Hey guys! For every one that applied for the fall, do you have to wait until transcripts have arrived and your NursingCAS application is "verified" to submit? Also, would anyone mind sharing their stats? Does anyone know if they look at cumulative undergrad GPA or only pre-req GPA? Thanks yall!

Hi! Yes, they have to be received and verified first (if I remember correctly). I had a 3.2 cumulative GPA and a 4.0 science GPA, and I scored a 90 on my HESI. I think they just look at the prereq GPA and the science GPA.

Hey guys! To those of you that are currently in the distance ABSN program, I was wondering if I could message one of you privately and ask some questions about the program? My interview is tomorrow and I just wanted to know a bit more about it. Thanks so much!

Hi friends! I applied a week or two ago and was wondering if anyone has heard back as far as acceptance/rejections go?

As far as the religious courses, my advisor recommended American Public University, but I found a more cost friendly option through Dallas Community College (for one course) and Mclennan CC for the other. I'm waiting on hearing back before starting these courses, though, because each of the schools I'm looking into have diff, specific pre-reqs.

Also, I'm from the Austin area. ?

Hey! I’ve been accepted into the Spring 2021 program:) did they have any issues finding clinicals for you in Austin?? We were considering moving to Houston where there were more options but I don’t think it’s going to work out...

There has definitely been issues placing us for clinicals not matter where we live because of covid. Some people are driving 1+ hours for theirs. It’s hard to say whether austin would have easy placement but hopefully the Spring will have better options for clinicals.

Oh no that’s awful! I forgot about how COVID is affecting everything. How’s the program going so far?

it’s going well so far. lots of studying but that is expected:) very manageable if you have a good work ethic!

Hey guys! Now that you all are 1/3 of the way through I am curious what your experience has been like? is there anything you wish you had known before starting? Anything you spent money on that was unnecessary? I am in the group starting in Jan so any info would be appreciated or please feel free to message me privately

Hi everyone! I just found this thread and I have been accepted to start in Fall 2021! I would love to talk with anyone that is in the program now. Particularly anyone with young kids that could give me some idea of how the class schedule works and how you're balancing school and family. Are you able to work part time? (I know they say not to). Do your kids stay home with you while you study? How do you work out a schedule when you're working clinicals if your significant other has steady work hours that are hard to adjust? I'm beyond excited to be changing careers, but I am so worried about the upheaval this change will cause in my family, especially with not having a known schedule to start planning for. Any ideas for child care or working would be appreciated!

Hi, I do not have kids but I can try to give some insight. Working is not possible at all with the pace and the amount of work that has to get done. I think that many of the parents in my cohort do have their kids home with them. Almost all studying is done on your own like reading, doing questions, etc so whatever you need to get that stuff done. Clinicals are pretty tough to get a "good" schedule since they are 12 hour shifts and there are limited days and times that your preceptor can take you etc. You can opt to go on weekends if that is an option. There is always nights too.. Let us know if you have more q's.
