baycare new grad jobs

Published

I am a new grad rn from MD who became an RN in July 2015. I have pretty much given up on finding a job in MD and would really love to move back to the st. pete/tampa area. I graduated from Eckerd College with a BA in psych many years ago and fell in love with the area. I would love to work at All children' hospital, but I only have the ADN.

So, instead, I decided to try Baycare new grad jobs including a CLINICAL NURSE RESIDENT - GRADUATE NURSE PROGRAMS - PEDIATRICS at St. Joseph's in Tampa. The job status changed to under consideration the day after I appied (11/1/15). I also applied for the oncology nurse residencies at Morton Plant Hospital and winter haven hospital I work as a Pct in an outpatient hospital oncology department and really love working with oncology patients. My 2 areas of interest are definitely oncology and peds, but would be open to med-surg or ER as well.

If anyone has applied to any of these jobs or any RNs who work at any of these hospitals I'd love to hear from you. Do you have any idea when or if I might hear something? Do I have a shot? It would also be great if any current employees had any advice or contacts that might help me increase my chances. If any new grads are in the program how do you fell about it so far? Thanks!

I also applied for the position and I have not heard anything from them yet. I also applied for the adult med/surg clinical nurse residency and got a phone call from the nurse recruiter and told me she was forwarding my information to the nurse managers, but that was a week ago and I still haven't heard from them.

Well, you got farther than I did! Mine still says, "under consideration", which has been like that for a few weeks. Not exactly reassuring! Anything new since you posted? Did the manager contact you?

I was contacted yesterday to schedule an interview for the med/surg residency. As for the peds residency, it still says "under consideration".

That's great! You'll have to let me know how it goes. My peds residency also says under consideration still. I am getting very discouraged with this whole process. I just can't seem to find somewhere that will give me a chance. I really love caring for patients, but that doesn't seem to count for much.

I've applied to the Peds residency program twice. The first time, I never received a call and this time, I finally had an interview. Unfortunately, they are only looking for about eight GN's. Decisions are going to be made by Christmas.

Wow! That's now very many! How did your interview go? I wonder why it still says under review for mine for the peds. The other St. Joe's applications just say received. Maybe I'll try calling them this week if I can get someone to answer! Good luck to you.

I think it went pretty well. However, with only 8 spots, I'm not going to rely on it (but still hopeful!). From my first attempt with the program, they don't update the "under consideration" until they have all of their spots filled. Good luck to you! It's been difficult finding a job in this area. I'm looking all over FL at this point. 3 months of searching going strong!

I am also starting to expand my search. Do you know anything about Jupiter medical center or the hospitals on the east coast? My neighbor stays there in the Winter and said it's a great area. He may be able to talk to some people since he donates a lot of money, but he couldn't guarantee anything would come of it. I went ahead and applied anyway. I don't know if I mentioned that they contacted me for the West Florida HCA StaRN program? I passed the montage interview portion, but I would have to fly down and pay for a hotel on my own with no guarantee that I'd be hired after an interview. So, I told her I'd let her know. I am really apprehensive about doing that because I did it for Duke and they did not offer me a position in their new grad residency. I drove in that case, so it wasn't as much of an expense as Florida would be. It's all so stressful and my parents don't even want to believe that I am serious about moving so I can't even discuss it with them. I had to move back with them from Orlando because I had a lot of health issues and had 2 major surgeries that made it impossible to support myself and pay rent. So, I hated it, but I had not choice. They are fine to live with, but I really want to get out on my own again because the longer I'm here, the less confidence I have in myself.

I think expanding your search is the best bet. I'm originally from South Florida, so I've applied to the Baptist Versant Program in Miami (have an interview tomorrow!). However, I recently moved to the Tampa area, so I am trying to make it work there. There is also a Baptist New Grad program in Jacksonville, but I'm not sure if their application is still open. As for the StaRN, I've had an interview in St. Pete and was not given an offer. The majority of the west coast has HCA hospitals, with most offering that program. I'm not too familiar with Jupiter, but there are programs in Daytona (Halifax), Fort Meyers (Lee Memorial), FL Hospital Orlando and Orlando Health. Also, if you like oncology, Moffitt in Tampa is an AMAZING cancer center. Their new grad app opens Dec 15th-Feb 15.

Also for the east coast, I'm not sure how far south you are willing to go. I only really know what's in Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

That's what I'm afraid of if I fly out for the StaRN west Florida and then dont' get offered the job. It seems like they have a lot of people going for those jobs. I looked at Moffitt, but I don't have a BSN which they require for their residency. The deadline for the Baptist new grad was November 30th, so it looks like I missed out on that one. I've also just started to apply to regular RN I positions to see if I have better luck with that. This whole process is exhausting and I feel like I'm all over the place trying to get someone to hire me! It's hard to concentrate at my regular PCT job, but at least I have something to keep my mind focused on something else for a while. Well, another week begins with the hope that we will both get some good news!
