Hi all,
Does anyone know which hospitals in the bay area offer new rn grad programs? If there are any, I am looking into ER, adult acute care or ICU training programs after I graduate next year. Please advise.
Thanks!

Most hospitals in the Bay Area have new grad programs. All you have to do is go to hospital websites and look:
San Francisco, Pennisula, North and East Bay Hospitals.
San Jose and South Bay Area Hospitals.
Thanks begalli!

I attended a recruiting event for nurses and new grads this past Friday in Santa Clara and yes, all I spoke with have new grad training programs and all hire into whatever department has a need but not all programs are alike, of course, and they seem to be rather competitive.
The old “Med/Surg first, newbie” seems to be out the window in the Bay Area!

Hey West_Coast_Ken
I'm currently a 2nd degree nursing student in DC, but am originally from the Bay Area and would like to return after getting my BSN. I was wondering what type of recruiting event you attended (public or private) and how often they hold recruiting events for new grads? Any additional info you can give would be much appreciated! Thanks

Thought you might want to know that this post is old (2006).
Unfortunately, there are few New Grad programs in the Bay Area these days.
When the rare new grad program opens up, there are thousands of applications for a handful positions. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but It is a very difficult climate for nurses in the Bay Area right now.
Hopefully things will turn around in a year.
Good Luck!
Thank you for the advice! I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that things turn around.
