Bauder College Pleasant Surprise

U.S.A. Georgia

So I had a VERY NEGATIVE initial contact with this college. Through just ONE conversation it's apparent that this school is a for-profit. After calling the school I was transferred to their Atlanta campus...The guy answered the phone "are you coming to a information session" which COMPLETELY through me off....no hello, thank you for calling Atlanta...blah blah etc.. it was INFO session info session. He continued to cut me off, avoid all questions. and even got SNAPPY with me. Their customer service is absolutely a turn off and I don't believe this school will be a top choice for me. smh some people do not need to be in customer service... I could NOT believe this guy. Take a PTO day if you don't want to work.

Hi Lpn and congrats:) I start on the 1st as well and I don't have any pre-reqs either.

Hi Everyone:) Congrats to u all! @ Deah thank u 4 reaching out I will look for u on the 30th:)

Bauder College is a great school, and I am glad that I chose to go there. At first I was hesitant due to the program being new, the lack of information released to the general public about the program, and the tedious entrance requirements, but it really is a good school. I have a previous degree from a state college (not in nursing) and Bauder may have a little different way of doing things in admissions and such, but it's worth doing. I am posting this info here because I wanted to know more as I was applying to Bauder & I think others will appreciate this info.

Take my word that the school is great. The facilities are state of the art & the professors are exceptional. I am so happy I am here at Bauder. As for entrance & admissions, transfer credits, etc: Make sure to get your drug test, physical, immunizations done ASAP. Hand deliver your transcripts if at all possible; it gets in the system faster. Take time for personal meetings with financial aid dept & bring ALL required docs with you when you go. If you do those things, it will be a smooth process.

Bauder ADN program is new, so it's still being "tweeked" but this is what it is for now. At Bauder the ADN program's first 10 weeks of classes include the following:

Microbiology (done online)

College Success (in class one day a weeks for 2 hours)

College Algebra (in class 2 days a weeks 2 hours)

A & P 1 (In class; I don't know what days, because I transferred it, but I think it's 3 days a week for a couple of hours)

If you have any of those as transfer credits you only take the ones you need.

Remember that to receive any federal or state financial aid you need to attend for at least 6 hours per quarter. I actually have to take a class over that I already got elsewhere due to the way that Federal Student Loans and Grants work, but it's okay with me: easy "A" lol.:)

The second 10 weeks:

A & P 2

English 1

Computer Applications

Pathophysiology

The third 10 weeks:

Pharmacology

Nursing Fundamentals

English 2

4th 10 weeks:

Med-surg nursing 1

Speech communications (public speaking class)

A social science elective like Psychology 1101 or Sociology, Political Science. Anthropology, etc

5th 10 weeks

Mental Health Nursing

Med-surg nursing 2

Ethics

6th 10 weeks

Maternal infant nursing

Pediatric nursing

Last term

Med-surg nursing 3

Leadership/community nursing

Capstone, which is a NCLEX prep course I think

This is what is on the list for now, but as the program progresses it is subject to change. For example, Pharmacology and Patho have already been switched around since the first set of ADNs started. Of course there are clinicals involved, but I'm not in that far yeat, so I don't know how they work. No clinicals 1st quarter, I don't think there are any 2nd quarter. Maybe someone else can help with when the clinicals start. Most of the people in my cohort who are LPNs still work, so the program is not always an 8 to 5 Mon-Fri schedule, but it likely will be later on down the line.

I hope this info helps anyone interested in our school.

Oh, I almost forgot. The coast at Bauder will seem to be really high when you first look at it, but it's really not. The program is all-inclusive. Books and uniforms are all included. If you have ever been in college for any degree subject then you know that books can easily cost 800$ a semester or quarter. Plus, it tuition is figured by the credit hour, so if you already have English, Psychology, Communications, College Algebra, or what ever class, your tuition is reduced by that amount. For example, I transferred 28 credit hours and my tuition was reduced to about what I would pay at one of the state colleges. Plus, financial aid actually covers everything between Hope, Pell, Federal Loans, etc. It isn't as expensive as it seems, and it's quick. Imagine being able to work after only 18 months. And there are a lot of Atlanta metro area hospitals that will hire ADN RN's. Children's, Northside, Grady, and more. Just go to the hospital websites and search their career links and you will see what's available and who they will hire. It is well worth the cost to go to Bauder. Get in while you still can, also, because the more people that hear about Bauder's new programs, the more applicants there will be, and the harder it will be to get in. We all know how long the waiting lists and such are elsewhere. It's easier to compete against a couple hundred applicants than a couple of thousand, like at some of the state colleges.

And again, I must stress how great Bauder is. Do not listen to people who say bad things, because it's just not true.

Enurse, thank you!!! This helpful info is great. When did u start the Nursinb Program? Can college success be taken day OR evening?

Thank u! I start the LpN program on Feb 1st.:)

Hi Petite:) Congrats! My letter stated that orientation will b from 10:15 until 4...congrats again and best wishes:)

I started in Nov. They schedule you for all of your classes & College Success is a day class ( or at least mine is). So far all of my classes have been day classes. The Computer Aps class is evening, but they are trying to add a day class also. I am glad that the info is helpful to you. I was so in the dark about the way the program worked while I was waiting to see if I was accepted, and I thought others may like to know how things work.

I love the school. Good luck to you. Maybe I'll see you at school.
