I started the program this past fall, and I know a lot of you that are applying have tons of questions that seem to never get answered (at least I felt that way leading up to getting the acceptance letter last year!), so hope this helps you out!

1. No, they won't show you statistics on who they accept (GPA, HESI, etc.) I asked!

2. Be prepared for a long summer! We had multiple deadlines to meet throughout the summer (Medical stuff, various applications, etc.- it's not difficult, just time consuming. Especially if you're working full time) Also, getting into Nursing school isn't cheap. . . I think books were $300ish (don't buy from the bookstore!), immunizations/labs $200ish w/o ins. (some insurances cover), uniforms/supplies $150ish

3. Try and take AP2 over the summer if you haven't taken it already- taking it with Fundamentals will be tough!

4. Fundamentals itself is not hard. . . just different. There's a lot of information to cover and well, let's just say Nursing exams SUCK! (Here's the question and here are the answer's. . . and btw, ALL the answers are correct, but please give me the BEST correct answer. . . Ugh!)

5. Clinical and lecture schedules change each semester, so I can't say what yours will be like. But our in-hospital clinicals were only 6 weeks out of the semester, one day a week. Before that, you spend a lot of time in the lab learning skills. Lecture for us was 2 days a week, 2 hrs each day.

Hi I know its been awhile since anyone has used this thread. I'm taking my hesi exam next week and i have been studying like crazy. Is there any pointers or tips that someone can give? Also how was each portion of the exam? Lastly, what was everyone's G.P.A and score? Sorry I have so many questions.

i am also applying to spring 2016. My GPA is 3.63 and I have already started looking at HESI practice exams. I have only taken 3 classes at BRCC and the others at LSU. I am so nervous!!

Hi. I am starting this August. In two weeks. I would recommend staying in touch with the administration. I can't say names on here but the dean of nursing is a very good person to go speak to. You can go up there, meet them face to face and talk to them. The dean is the nicest person ever and she will give you tons and tons of advice. And it doesn't hurt to let them see a face behind the admission paper.

Also, study like your life depends on it for the hesi. I convinced myself that it wasn't going to be that bad and didn't prepare like I should have. Consequently I didn't score as high as I planned and had to worry for months wondering if I would make it in. I know someone that got in with a 3.5 and a 85. That seems to be the bottom numbers.

I was admitted into BRCC Nursing for Fall 2016. Can somebody recommend a place for health/immunization work? I went to Baton Rouge General Family Health Center and they told they could not prove the discount price for BRCC students now.
