Hi everyone ,
I was wondering if anyone was applying for Barrys DNP starting 2019. I was gonna complete it by the end of this month after the dreaded GRE. It would be nice to get to know any input on what the school is looking for.

I probably will later in the year once I'm over the 1 year experience mark. Got pretty everything else ready.
All the best..

What else do you have ready ? I'm kinda worried about the GRE scores that they are looking for
I have GRE, CCRN, Chemistry, still needs PALS
though.

Hello,
I have a couple of questions that I can't seem to find on other cohort's threads.
1) I am currently completing a 2nd degree BSN. When it comes times for CRNA application, does Barry assess me based on my nursing school GPA alone or does it also factor in my horrid first degree GPA?
2) Would Gen chem for majors suffice as their chem pre reqs or are they specifically wanting biochem or organic chem?
3) Are any of you currently taking ANE 695 offered as an online "transition"/weed out course? if so, any feedback?
Good luck with your pursuits!

I have listened to their webinars and can answer# 2. They say any chem is ok as long as it's not the 'introduction to.... ' type so yes gen chem is ok. They say however biochem or organic chem will impress the most.

Currently working on my application now. I'm signing up for the ANE 695. GRE 327 GPA 3.91 grad (MSN in Acute care) 3.57 undergrad, CCRN, CMC, CSC. Taking PALS in May. 6 years CVICU/ICU. 3 years ARNP in critical care. My issue is all of my chemistry I/II and organic I/II are just over 10 years old, so hopefully they'll be ok with me taking their prep class.
I would talk to them about your pre-reqs. I think they state they need at least 1 non-intro chem, stats, and another science taken within the last 5 years. If you don't mind me asking, why the jump from NP to CRNA?
I will have to call them as they are vague on their website. It does not specify that the other science has to be within five years and with the lab portion of the chemistry not being restricted to 5 years, it's really not clear. It just says prior course required.
As for why the switch, I think it's more in line with my personality and what I enjoy doing.
I agree, they are pretty vague. Did you speak to them at all about how they weigh ANE 695? From what I heard (student-speak, not admissions) it is really expensive, and offers no tangible boost to an application package. Would be interested in the opinion of someone who is committed to signing up for it.
Yea I agree !!! I read on this website from an SRNA who is at Barry's that the ANE does not weigh extra credits as per the school is concerned . It is expensive and tougher .. I am currently doing gen chem from a community college .. my issue is the GRE I wrote it once with a 297 total and I know that's no where near a competitive score and my GPA is poor ( taken 10 years ago ) .. took the CCRN and a few more classes and praying that helps !!!
