I've been talking to a few people and they pretty much say the same thing its very hard and goes very quickly but, it is not impossible. I use to be nervous but now I feel ready. Do you plan on living off or on campus?

Hey guys,

I've been looking at other options for nursing school besides FIU, and i was wondering what exactly are the steps to apply to Barry..i know i have to get accepted to the school first..What about pre-reqs?..must they all be completed before admission into the program? I plan on doing the Generic option, but i suppose it's similiar to the accelerated. Are they very strict on the science GPA's..or the cumulative?

Any info would be greatttly appreciated! Maybe there's a specific cousneler you can direct me to, to answer all these questions haha

TIA,

Cary

Hi,

I have a question for any of you guys attending Barry. I am planning on applying to the nursing program for Fall 09. I am currently finishing up my prerequisites. I only have A & P II left to take. I was wondering

PHI Philosophy Distribution and THE/PHI 353 Bio-Medical Ethics courses

what classes are these equivalent too at BCC or MDC. Am 19 yrs old, and I recently graduated over the summer with my A.A in Health Administration from BCC, but decided not to go that track. I have all the basic requirements completed am just a little worry about these classes. I have taken History, Ethics, and Religion classes at BCC would anyone know if these classes count towards the requirement. Thanks.

Hey Gt

THE/PHI 353 has no equivalent course at BCC or MDC. The only college that offer that course as of now is IRCC which is out of the way for you. As for as the other q's you would have to meet up with an advisor to see what credits can/can not transfer.

Thank you very much. I will be going to the information session on the 23 of this month.

Hey, I met up with a barry advisor this tuesday for the generic bsn program. She gave me chart for class equivalencies. Send me an email and I can scan the sheet for you if you want, but I do recommend you see an advisor. :)

i cannot speak to the accelerated program at either private unversity. i can tell you that there are professors at barry that come from um and it was a loss to um. an accelerated program is nuts because you cannot absorb that amount of data and technique in a regular two years much less in a readers digest condensed version. the enviornment is different at barry than it is at um. there is much more of an international flavor and atmosphere at barry than at um. there is more affluence at um.do not get me wrong, there are struggling students, working parents and everything in between at both places but like hospitals, corporations, families and society itself, each place has its own "culture" and flavor. um has just recently gotten out of trouble so they may have something to prove. visit each place and judge for yourself. talk to professors and students of both the school of nursing and other schools. the son (school of nursing) does not exist in a vacum and you have to get a feeling for the university as a whole.the reputations are slightly different from the perspectives of local hospitals. barry nurses were infamous for only wanting to chart and not " to deal too much with the patients". um nurses usually work very hard but are not so attentive to charts. see, that is just what "they" say whoever they are.i went to barry for my masters and um for my bsn so i know about what i am telling you. i hope this helped. :redbeathe
