Hi everyone! So I'm totally new here, I'm about to graduate in May from a school with a Communications degree, I decided this summer after some interesting turn of events that I wanted to be a nurse! I had some random prerecs that I had already taken and took a few more this semester. I applied to Barry's second degree program and got in! I did realize after though that the second degree program only starts in Jan? I was going to take a full course load of classes this summer at a cc and then i'd be done my prerecs and able to apply to the actual nursing program for the fall. My question is if I take all those classes this summer can I not even start taking the nursing classes in the fall? Will I have to wait until the spring semester to start? I'm out of state and I want to get through the Barry program quickly as possible! Has anyone had any issues like this?

Thanks!

Transferlh,

I am in a similar situation as you. I am graduating in a few weeks with a degree in English. I have applied to Barry but still have some prerequisites to do. I have already completed some of them b/c I was on a nursing track my freshman year before I switched to English. Anyways, how many of your prerequisites did you have completed when Barry accepted you into the nursing program? I have gotten into Barry as a pre-nursing student but not a nursing student yet. I'd love to hear back from you. Thanks :)

Future Nurse1 I am currently finishing up my last prerequisites before I start the traditional program at Barry. Barry has gotten very strict and does not accept any students into the program officially if they do not have all prereqs completed. You have to be within 2 classes to accepted into the program. But will not be able to officially register until those classes are completed. You also have to make sure that you fall within the 3.2 gpa that is required. If you are interested in starting make sure to make an appointment with the Nursing counselor at Barry. She will go over your transcript and let you know what you are missing in order to begin.
